100 Series AUTO kicking back. any known checks

Hi,

Great forum!

I have just recently bought a 100 series 4.5ltr petrol auto.
When i accelerate it seem to take off ok then it will kick back a gear for a brief moment then back into higher gear and ok again.
This seems to happen intermittently and I have checked the oil quality and level. Quality is ok and level is just slightly under low mark when hot which I will top up (didnt think that would cause the issue)
any ideas on what to check etc?

Sorry, after another drive I have found that I have a flare from 3rd to 4th gear not a kicking back problem as I first thought. Any ideas on an easy fix or do I need a rebuild?

Might wanna ask in the 80 forum too. U.S. 100's came with a 4.7 V8. Sorry can't suggest any ideas. Good luck.
