(I apologize about the snow on the hood, I can't seem to keep up with clearing it off all my rigs this year)! I can provide access to the Carfax site (via e-mail and password) as well as the vin# for those interested in this beautiful rig.
Up for sale is my 1986 Toyota Landcruiser with 177,000 miles. This Cruiser is equipped with the stock inline 2F 4.2L carbureted engine. This truck runs great and I live up at 7000 feet! Starts up on cold mornings first time every time! Odd story with how I ended up with the truck ( since I already have an 88 FJ62 which some of you may have seen) . Well, long story short I purchased this truck from my friend as he is unfortunately going through a divorce and needs some financial help. His father was the original owner of this truck (originally registered to him in February of 86!) and the truck was given to my friend in 2003 as a gift since his father is simply getting too old to drive the truck. My buddy has wanted this truck since he was young and is so bummed to sell it.
So, for the nitty gritty. The title is 100% clear with no liens! The truck is 100% original (save for aftermarket wheels and tires and small stereo system). The only other parts that have been changed are mechanical parts which have been replaced. ALL PARTS have been installed by Precision Toyota of Tucson. The engine has been replaced with a lower mileage unit. The engine that was put in this truck was original and did not smoke or ping. It had around 70,000 miles on it. New gaskets were put on this motor all the way around (including front and main seal). Other BRAND NEW PARTS INCLUDE spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, most of the vacuum lines, catalytic convertor, thermostat, clutch, battery, smog pump (reman), flywheel, radiator, carburetor (reman), starter (reman), water pump (OEM), fuel pump, and finally, rear drums and shoes. The dealership invoice has these repairs totaled up to $7,826.12! I have ALL the receipts regarding these repairs. THIS TRUCK PASSES EMISSIONS NO PROBLEM! When viewing the Carfax report, the truck failed emissions testing down in Tucson several times. This was due to a faulty smog pump and as pointed out, has been replaced and now passes emissions effortlessly. This vehicle was not abused at all, it has been family owned since new and the new parts are a result of the vehicle not having been driven much from 2001-2005. The previous owner is meticulous about his vehicles and as such decided to have the repairs done. Not sure what all was necessary but he did say the truck was running "ok" when he received it from his father. It has been in the Southwest its entire life and its condition is reflective of that! NO Rust ANYWHERE, that is a GUARANTEE! I wish I could keep this FJ, however, the 62 has been in my hands about two months and has already become my new project. The truck has a pioneer CD player, and 15" Enkei wheels with 31 X 10.5 BFG Mud Terrain tires. I would say there is around 60% tread life left on the tires.
Now for some not so good stuff. Interior looks really good. There is a crack in the dash board and small tear in drivers side, but otherwise no stains. There is a 6 inch diameter (circular) piece of carpet missing in the cargo area. Evidently this was due to some chemicals being spilled on the carpet some time ago. Other than that, the carpet, door panels, and upholstery are in great condition! The rear hatch needs new shocks. The hood and a little bit of the roof are faded from the Arizona sun. Other than these areas, the paint looks great! Mechanically, the only part that needs attention is the power steering pump. It leaks a bit of fluid and you need to add some every so often otherwise it will whine when it is low on fluid. The pump itself works fine but if the leaking bothers you than I would advice replacing it. The power steering sytem is in great condition since fluid has been replaced when it leaked. The system has never gone low on fluid. No other problems, I would not hesitate to drive this truck cross country!
Overall, you could not get a better running, better looking, rust free FJ60 for less. This truly is a Landcruiser for those looking for a maintenance free, great looking FJ60 that will look good and perform for years to come. Most all vehicles look good when you buy them, what matters ishow they perform and look 2, 5, 10 years down the way. Boys, this truck is an inline six. Thanks for picking that up 904. The hood was replaced and painted and the driver side headlight surround was also replaced (back in 1988 or so). Allegedly, the accident was caused by the original owners wife hitting another vehicle at about 10 mph. Very minor damage from what he told me. The fading on the hood is likely due to it being repainted 20 years back. No other accidents. Carfax report is clean.
