Okay guys here we go, 1950's Bantam T3-C 1/4 ton trailer up for sale in Caldwell Idaho.
A good friend of mine that is very busy right now has allowed me to offer this trailer to the folks on the Mudd web site before he puts it up for sale locally next month to the public. I know this trailer is a well sort after trailer as it is one of the best 1/4 ton trailers to pull behind the best 4x4 ever made the Toyota FJ40 and 45 and 55, 60 and so on. I have one and I love it. This is the little brother to the US Army's M416 but just has the rounded fenders and a tail gate.
As said I am posting this for a friend so I have no say so in the price that he is asking, and that is $850 and he is pretty firm on that. Since I have one of my own I will describe as best and truly as possible on the condition of this fine trailer.
What I would do to this trialer may be the best way:
Sand blast it down to bear metal, it has a few small areas of what looks like surface rust and the blasting will most likely take care of that. See photo of lower tail gate area.
Missing front and rear tie down hooks. ??
Tires are crap, got to go.
Rims are good, not combat style
Have not seen the lights work but has wire harness and plug in. I would think it works.
I did not open tail gate, but from what I see it looks usable and good hinges
The bed has a crease across the floor but looks like something that can be fixed. see photo
The floor is in amazing condition, just blast and spray in some bed liner.
It has the landing gear leg stand. Nice
it has what looks like a 2" ball coupler
Also looks like it can be converted to a lunette type hitch as I did (much better)
Ugly green in color
No Bantam tags or stickers
Wheel bearings look like they may need repacking and adjusted
Springs look good
Axle looks good
Has all the tie down hooks but the two listed above
Has the pockets. Picture has PVC tubes installed to hold a tarp over it for keeping out Water.
A few small dings but dam good for its age.
So if you are in Idaho or a close state, come and get it. He will not even consider shipping on a truck so it will be a pick up only. Will hold until pick up but only with full payment and not long.
Please do not ask me on the price and on shipping, but anything else I will try to help.
Okay that's it, start thinking about it but better be fast as they go fast. I would rather see it behind a Landcruiser instead of s J*$%.
PM me.

Yes more.
On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 7.5 poss 8.
Yes I would take it apart and blast it in pieces, but that is me.
The crese can be fix, yes

No, the paint is crap but is functional right now against rust
No, my statement on the wheel bearings was that it is always a good idear to do a check and PM work as one should. As anything this old one should. Bearings are still available yes.

Yes you can replace the fenders with the 416 type but you have to do some changes on the fender mounts.

No spare tire, tarp not part of sale.

What you see is what you get. One nice old 1/4 ton trailer.

Here you go Jeff, this is mine I use with my 45, pulls nice like it was not even back there. I believe the WT load limit on them was 500 LBS. I know I have had more weight than that with no problems.
Cheers
