So I recently got my old Sequioa back from my dreaded nephew. I now, again, own my 2007 Sequoia 4wd limited with 320,000ish miles on it. This is my 3rd vehicle with the 2UZ so I’m no stranger to them. I had a 09 GX470 prior to it, and I also own a 06 GX470 now as well as the Sequioa. My nephew was horrible to the Sequioa, and just wasn’t as nice to it as me after all I put into it. I did all the maintenance to include aisin water pump, timing belt kit at 299k. We just did a Toyota power steering rack on it too, and lots else and when he had it, my clueless father in law added coolant to it, a power sports blue bottle of the stuff. My nephew told me about it, and then told me it was overheating as well. The story was never straight if it was overheating before or after the coolant added. I told them to have it flushed immediately and add the proper coolant. They had that done, as well as replaced the radiator. He says the coolant is just disappearing. Now I will say the mechanic that did just that stuff alone sounds clueless as well. They got tired of dealing with it and gave it back to me. Suspect #1, nephew says coolant is disappearing. Suspect #2 maybe a thermostat. #3 Head Gasket failure. From what I can see just from going out there and looking at it today, I do not see any coolant corrosion anywhere or leaks, I don’t see milkeness on the oil cap anywhere. The coolant does look low however. Any advice or places to check elsewhere or do first?

My 04 was losing coolant, ,turns out it was the radiator. It was original, and the tank was leaking, very hard to locate. Just a thought.

The radiator is brand new, and I haven’t seen any leaks on the ground though. Head gasket passed testing so it’s not that either. I think it could be thermostat causing the overheating
