06 LX470 High Idle

Been driving my Father in Laws 06 LX470 and have noticed that it idles really high on a cold startup. Like 1400rpm. Much higher than my 03 100. Runs great otherwise.

Eventually drops down to normal once the engien is warm.

Is this normal for the newer motors. Thanks.

Not speaking from experience, but maybe it's to warm up the engine faster? My engine usually idles around 650rpm even from cold start.

Ya that's about where my 100 idles and it doesn't hit 1400 on cold starts. Maybe 900 IIRC. His LX has the 275hp vvti and I was wondering if maybe it idles higher for some reason.

Maybe dirty MAF sensor?

Both of my 06's have a high start up idle.

For that matter my 93 has a high start up idle.

They do idle a bit warmer when cold and they shift at a higher RPM. This warms the cats faster to help with excess fuel burn off.
