have a 02 tundra and put a 2 inch spacer lift on a while back now the rubber boots on the stock upper ball joint are all mucked up and grease is exposed. do i need to go to a after market uca and ball joint like total chaos. if so how long do the after market ball joints last.

You can either go with UCA's by TC or Camburg. The uniball design is made to last a long time. The other option is to install limit straps. You'll need to drill a hole or use existing holes to mount the top of the limit strap. The bottom can be mounted using the lower shock mount bolt and you'll just need to drill a hole in the coil bucket.

When I had adjustable coilovers I needed limit straps because of the same issues you are having. I purchased a pair of Deist adjustable limit straps. I mounted the bottom limits straps using the sway bar end link. The top, I used a hole (drilled a larger opening) next to the brake line mount.
