Hey everyone, recently purchased an 01 Lx470 that I’m having a few issues with.

When I’m listening to the radio and I turn the volume up (nothing insane), the speakers cut out then come back then cut out again. The previous owner stated he replaced the speakers with the aftermarket speakers that match the Ohms of the factory system. Not sure if that has to do with it or something else. This seems like an AMP issues to me.

Im sure the answer is out there somewhere but my google searches turn nothing up.

I blew out 2 Levinson amps ($800 each) ,,, I took the vehicle to Lexus and they replaced the amps both times, BUT, the third time the tech pulled the rear sub off the Drivers Side Wall in the Way back and discovered it had been replaced by non spec speaker and some rectangular fuses were wired together to get the ohms right. He pulled that speaker out several years ago and we have had no problems since. I would like to get the spec speaker in but verified ones have been way toooo expensive for my budget.

When it blew the amps the amp would suddenly shut down for 5 seconds or so, but then the amp would come back on. It might do this several times before it would NOT come back on. The amp had been blown. It took several months to figure this out. Lexus became very interested when I returned needing the third amp. They guarantee their work for a year ... I paid for the first replacement and then they ponied up for the rest.

We did not play music very loudly. The prob was the replacement by the previous owner of a non spec speaker and then the fuses to get the ohms correct which apparently was not calculated or hooked up correctly.
