I recently purchased a 01LX with audio issues, whenever I select the audio button the display shows a screen that says "Audio Off". I have installed a new to me ML amplifier under the passenger seat, this did not fix the issue. The amp has power to it, I can see the fan start up when I turn the key. This vehicle had the rear DVD screen ripped out before I purchased it. From what I can tell it looks like someone broke in and stole it. The vehicle also does not have the GPS under the passenger seat. Whenever I click the power, tune, AM, FM, tape, disc buttons on the instrument panel nothing happens, no audio, nothing on the display.
My questions is: Am I getting "Audio Off" on the display because the rear DVD screen has been ripped out? Could this be an issue from the GPS being removed? Is there something wrong with the head unit?
Any advice on how to diagnosis this would be greatly appreciated.
