Hi, Guys new to this forum and dont know if this is the right place to post this subject.

but i have just bought a 01 105 series wagon 1hz and want to turbo it but i dont know what turbo to go with i was looking at the mamba td05 16g kit but dont know the quality of them also had thoughts of the garret but just dont know which one to buy i want somthing that spools relatively quickly and can hold boost to 22psi any thoughts and feedback would be muchly appreciated thanks guys.

What coldtaco said ^^

My two cents: I've heard many stories of turboing 1HZ's in the 105's not ending well. Usually overheating and cracked heads. Sometimes crack pistons. Most attribute this to poor tuning, but the reality is IDI motors are not well suited to turboing - especially if they're worked hard. So make sure you budget for more than just a turbo setup alone. Look at intercooling and maybe some other cooling upgrades also. Ideally swapping in a 1HDT/1HDFT/1HDFTE would be the way to go.

Regarding specific turbos - maybe contact Gturbo?

I ran a 1hz but in a 75, had the full dts kit on it. I brought it like it but i would personally go a gturbo and pdi intercooler. 22psi is gunna wake the old girl up, i was running 12. My 1hz had over 300,000kms turbo'ed so i reckon that they are fine, so long as the tune is done properly and by someone who knows what they are doing. Particularly with a 1hz. Cheers

Hi guys thanks for the replys yeh thats what i was thinking indestructuble 47 i been told by a few blokes the 1hz should be fine as long as it is tuned well and keep eye on egts was going ro run a w2a and high mount setup anyways hopefully the ahould keep it coolwr not sure never used a w2a system only fmic setups also been told by a few turbo places the g turbo is no good ?.

The 105 1HZ is apparently weaker than the older 1HZ like you would have had in your HZJ75? I've heard the older 1HZ's take turbo better than the new ones....but don't have any personal experience with it.

Yep, look after it and it'll look after you. I would get a quality intercooler though, for not much price difference good intercooler really helps.

I don't know that so many people would run gturbos if they were rubbish. As far as i am concerned, they make a very good turbo, and one that will spool much faster and lower in the rpm range than most other turbos.

Thanks for your help mate much appreciated yeh like i said thats what he told me but in saying that this guy is united fuel injection all the way.... im not real keen on forking out $2150.00 just for the turbo and i dont know how quick they spool up although i know they are quality products.
