First sample received today. Will test fit for compliance. Very happy with it. I've had these made out of a better Alloy than the original. Will last longer. More tolerant of additives etc.
So onto my first timing belt job on the 2uzfe and ofcourse getting to the water housing it cracked. It was so stuck I had to cut out the remaining piece trying to keep aluminum shavings at a minimum.
Now on the hunt for a used replacement I found one that looks like a direct bolt on, but...
I have a 1984 FJ60 with 1HDT Diesel Engine and H55 transmission. When I first acquired the rig, it seemed to run hot; on a long hill it would go from 175 F to 215F. I replaced the thermostat with a new one (175F) and put in a new high capacity (375 HP capable) radiator and a 4000 CFM dual...
Lower housing has the double boss for the BVSVs used from 1978-1980. Upper housing is the earlier flat top (vs the 79-80 angle-top. Pretty good shape overall, with three pits in the neck of the upper housing about 1/8" across.
$195 plus the ride from Burbank.
Really exceptional good shape. No pitting on the hose connections, both bolt holes intact, and the rare METAL BVSV that you don’t have to worry about breaking the nipples off of.
$200 plus the ride.
1988 fj62. Appears to have small crack below engine temperature switch and is weeping coolant. Used upper housings seem crazy expensive. Anyone know if there’s a decent way to repair the crack?
HI, so I ordered a new OEM lower thermostat housing along with the OEM upper thermostat housing. New lower housing does not have the bvsv port on the side. Can I just omit / bypass that or do I need a new / different housing? the old one is kinda beat and already has a helicoil on the one side...
I have a 1996 FZJ80. When I slide the thermostat more that a 1/8th of inch towards cold, I get a loud and frequent knock that sounds like it is right behind my radio.
My local dealer and another mechanic near by gave me a part number of 87106A, but it is discontinued.
If I can find a part...

A while back I read a post where someone had a carb fan fix using off the shelf parts to replace the carb fan sensor and thermostat. I purchased the parts and stowed them in a box for "later". Now that I want to install them I can't find the post. Tried searching any carb fan posts I could find...
So i got my thermostat from Cruiser Outfitters. It’s a crossover 3B, 13BT, 2H, 12HT
My memory is a bit foggy, I remember in past the rubber split gasket used to come with the thermostats.
Cruiser Outfitters website they are not needed. So the two I received don’t have the rubber gaskets.
But...
I was having an issue with my thermostat reading temps of 140F to 160F, never reaching the operating water temp of 180F. A cool engine sounds cool but its really not, Oil only cleans when its at operating temp and the engine is optimized to run at 180F.
I already had drained some coolant when I...
Alright, this goes out to the people who are new at doing this job! It's really easy but there are a couple important things you need to know.
These are the things you will need:
1) Thermostat: 90916-03117
2) Thermostat Gasket: 16346-66020 (order two, mine slipped and got crushed tightening up...
Hey guys, I am currently in search of a Cold start timer switch (8946220040) that will fit on my 89’ FJ62. Just bought the Cruiser and that piece is broken.
Only having a problem finding this part, but if you also have the Thermostat housing lower (16333) and Thermostat housing gasket (16343)...
Hi all,
Just finished changing the following on my 88 FJ62. All parts are from CCoT.
water pump
hoses
belts
thermostat
aftermakert dash temp gauge sender
radiator cap
pretty sure all is burped sufficiently but not 100% certain. No leakage
Despite being a bear of a job, it seemed to go well...
So I have begun replacing parts on my cooling system starting with the radiator and all of the radiator hoses. Today I decided to take apart the thermostat housing, and to my surprise there is no thermostat. I have had no issues with my engine running cool, it typically holds 180* on long drives...
