gas

I smell the gas fume when I driving with AC on. I doesn't come in through the vents but if I have the window down, or stop and walk out the car I can smell it. I know is a fuel leak but is only when the is AC on. Where should I check first? thanks in advance. 1997 FJ80

Is this a stock gas pedal for a 1977 FJ40? It was previously connect via cable to a Weber carb. Will it work with mechanical linkage and stock carb? Thanks! Jeff
