Currently overlanding through Baja. Gas smell in cab has been growing worst, coming from engine compartment. Smell even grows worst for a while after car is turned off. Took it to a local mechanic in Todos Santos to trouble shoot. Reached behind engine (location in Photo) and found gas. Mechanic says he needs to rebuild the injector but from research I've also found it could be fuel pulsation damper? Is that located in the same area? Thanks!

I had the same problem and mine was the fuel pulsation damper. You can probably feel gas around it. You can try to tighten the screw on top. If you need to replace it use a crows foot wrench or socket - I can't remember the size 22?
There are copper washers that are a little tricky to slide into place since you can't see it all that well.
Be sure to tighten it to the proper torque or it will leak.
Overall an easy fix.

Awesome, glad to hear, thanks!

Was just now able to tighten the screw on it quitea few rotations with ease. will see if that helps, no gas directly on it, but further down there was a lot of caked gas. This photo is more detailed. Additional thoughts?

Turns out it's an injector. Problem is if it can't be repaired they are hard to find her in Baja. Beginning the search now before the mechanic starts removing all the parts to get to th injector. Any other Toyota injectors that could be used?
