Well,
Got the brakes finished last night. We used a 92 4runner MC, with a 80 Series LC top for it. This way the brake level gauge still work.
It was a bolt on swap, with minor bending to the brakes lines so it would line up.
Used the Calipers from a 92 4 runner, also new rotors and had the drums cut and new pad also.
Had to grind the calipers just a little so they would fit, then used a hack saw to cut the brake shields, scoops, (what ever you call those...)
It’s a night and day difference! On the way to work this morning a suburban stopped short in front of me on the freeway, brakes locked up and I did a nice skid! Who knew a FJ62 could stop so well.
This is a upgrade I highly recommend doing. Iam really not sure If it was a hugh difference between stock or not. I’ve and the truck about 2 months and the brakes were never working correct anyway, so I can‘t give you a honest compare. FYI _Iam running 33 x 10's on the truck.
