I just shook hands on a deal that I should pick up next week, for an 91 FJ80. Few small issues, nothing to drastic, 130 something on the clock, and may need some small brake line work. Picked it up for $3K, and hope it will be a good new addition.

There is still paint on 99% of the frame, only the back ends have rust. Do any of you undercoat your trucks?? Just thinking of ways to prevent anything further.
 
Suggest not undercaoting it! The undercoating will trap moisture and cause you-know-what. They are pretty well protected by the factory job. Just keep it clean. Nice truck! :flipoff2:Ned

First thoughts from day one in the 80.

I have to say going from the 62 to the 80 is a tad weird. Almost feels like I am driving a tank. How much weight did they add to the 80, or is that just the drag from the front end being engaged that I am feeling? It gets up and goes just fine, but the 62 just seems to have it all over the 80 in terms of power, which seems weird with the same engine & tranny.

I like the 80, will probably like it more when I get used to it, get the dog smell and hair out of it and have a few more hours behind the wheel.

I do feel like I am surrounded by a much more durable vehicle though.

I like the red. I had a choice of colors, and as usual, I have some possible regrets. I went to green and like it. Maroon and white are colors that I might have considered if I had had more time to decide. I had to do the bodywork and do with what I had. Green was it and I like it well enough.

Great deal!! I just bought my first LC, a '92 80, it's red too. Has 270,000 miles on the odo, congrats we've got a lot to look forward to.
 
can't beat that deal!! I also just purchased my first LC, it is a 96, black, 170K, elec. lockers, supercharged, all for 11k. i plan on posting pics.
 
Found one thing today that would have lowered the price considerably had I found it before hand. Appears as if one of the previous owners never knocked his boots before entering the truck in the winter time. There is about a 12 inch circle under the foot rest of the floor that is rusted out. :( Should be a fairly easy fix, gonna see if my body guy can patch it up, if not I will take care of it.
