Here is my newest idea. I’ve always mounted the 7way trailer plugs on the bumper, (’89 fj62 & 03 Tacoma). But the 100 has its own problem. It’s a plastic bumper with metal reinforcements. So placement isn't an easy choice like on the fj62 and the Taco. I have access to a hydraulic punch (which I had to use on the 62) but being the bumper is plastic, I didn’t want the 7way’s screws pulling in on the bumper causing it to look distorted. So mounting it in the middle area was ruled out.
So after lots of thought and a few beers, (or was this order reversed?).
I finally decided to do this. There are a few holes already in the metal part of the bumper. (A big thanks to spressomon for the pictures & FSM detail of the bumper).
So after looking at it, there seemed like only one place the 7way can be mounted. I used one of the holes that allowed me to have the wires go through the bumper frame.
I used the original mount as a backer plate on the plastic to give me something for the screws to bite onto.
The only drawback to this design is that your trailers wire might get tight while turning right. But my cable is plenty long enough so not an issue with mine.

bumper mod 001.webp

Great.
Good idea.
Do you have more pix: a close-up, and one behind the bumper from underneath??

Looks good anymore pics?

I’ll have to take some more, I didn’t think that many people would be interested.
I did this during my spare tire mod. It gave me tons of room to work.
I’ll try and take some pictures tomorrow.

What converter box and brake controller are you using?

The new style Toyota from C-Dan. The brake controller is called the POD. Not sure if it the greatest, but it works pretty good. I like the LED that lets me know if everything is working. My last one you never knew until you tested it, or needed it.

Looks very clean! I like it.

Now we need a picture of the whole rear, the low profile emblems and the plug.

Thanks
Pete

I still haven’t de-blinged my gold emblems. I have the black ones on the shelf. I’ve been trying to get them off, but been real busy. All this weekend I had the community volunteer to chip up old trees to reduce the fire threat, It took two full days.

Yes, I just got off the phone with Tom at American Toyota, and they are discontinued.
He did a search for me and found one at Greens Toyota, Lexington Kentucky. 1-800- 333-5403. The new style part # PT 207-60994. (This is the last one anywhere).
I got mine about two years ago.

I would think they have to still be available in some form as it was a recalled item. I got one from my local toyota dealer about 3 months ago.
