    First Overland trailer build

This started out as a boat trailer. I didn't have a good idea on what exact ally I wanted to end up with. Here's is a partial list of what I didn't do correctly: 1) the box is too small, it's about 3.5 feet wide and a little under 5 feet long. 2) the angle's aren't square 3) the fenders are...

    Mirrors for pulling a trailer.

Thanks everyone. I'd have to add about 14inches to the tongue to see the driver's side back corner of the trailer. I can use the backup camera for backing up. When it's sunny I the camera stays on but in the shade, or at night, seeing the trailer is still a challenge. I like the idea of the flags.

    Mirrors for pulling a trailer.

Keep in mind I didn't think this build through. The trailer is 9ft 10 in from ball hitch to rear bumper. The box is 42 in wide and 58 in long. The location of the spare tire blocks the view of the trailer, as the photo below shows (or doesn't show). I thought about posting this in the 60...

    Mirrors for pulling a trailer.

I installed a backup cam several years ago. Thanks for responding. I may have to paint the thing a color other than black. When I'm wearing my sunglasses it's difficult to see. Especially when I overlanding in the woods.

    Mirrors for pulling a trailer.

Hello Everyone, When I built my rear bumper/spare tire carrier for my 60, I didn't do so with pulling a trailer in mind. So I built an off road trailer that I can't see while driving because of the rear tire. (The last time I used the trailer was on the Georgia Traverse.) I'm currently using...

    "Safari" rack for trailer

Thanks. It does look better from a distance. It's not as "square" as it should be. Once again I learned a lot.

    "Safari" rack for trailer

I completed stage 2 of the build. Stage 3 is to fab up some type of hinge so the rack will lift up. This trailer was an old boat trailer. In retrospect, I should have made the trailer a little larger. This was my first trailer build. I learned a lot.

FJ60 and 4 flat wire trailer wiring

Hello Everyone, I have a 1986 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-60. I found this connector already wired to the vehicle lights. As you can see on the vehicle side of the module there are 4 wires, white, yellow, red, and green. On the trailer side of the module there are also 4 wires, white, black, black...

Toyota P/U bed trailer....help with wiring.

I feel your pain. I'm in the process of wiring a trailer to pull with my 60 and I'm trying to head off any potential problems before they arise. If I figure it out, I'll get back to you.

    Axle rear spring hanger angle

I'm impressed with ABC trailer parts. I've been so excited about getting the spring hangers welded on correctly. I finally did so and I went to mount the wheels. I discovered they shipped the axle with a 5 lug hub rather than the 6 lug. So I called them, they admitted their error and are sending...

    Axle rear spring hanger angle

I appreciate all of the reply's. One question was, "Why such short leaf springs?" I measured the width/length etc of the trailer and gave those measurements to abc trailer parts and they sent me springs based on those measurements. I just got off the phone with abc trailer parts. Bob, told me...

    Axle rear spring hanger angle

Thank you for your reply. I was thinking along the same lines about moving the rear hanger in a inch or so. Contacting the vendor is a good idea. Thanks again.

    Axle rear spring hanger angle

I've tacked the axles in place and I'm not sure I've done this correctly. Attached are 2 photos. One is the tacked axle and the other is the illustration that was sent with the axle. I've measured, multiple times, and I know there are 25 inches between the front and rear hanger. Any suggestions?

I appreciate the replies. On to ordering an axle.

Thanks for the info. The suspension is the normal leaf spring set up.

    Measurement between trailer and tire

I'm ready to order an axle and I'm not sure how long it be. I've converted a boat trailer to a light duty off road trailer. The tires/wheel combo will match my 60. (15 in wheels & 33 in tires). So how much space is needed between the tire and trailer? Thanks ...via IH8MUD app

    Got a new trailer m416

I didn't know you could put a bed liner on wood. Does the wood must be prepped differently than metal? I am envious of your wood working skill.
