Builds Father, Son, and the Unholy UTE

Heather doesn't want to climb up on one of these either, but you get access from the bottom and side access vs a camper topper. But . . . $$$$. https://gofastcampers.com/pages/camper You could find any good used tent and put it on one of these or something less expensive...

LX 450 upgrades, Lift, bumpers, sliders

Compiled 80 series suspension component spec thread... shocks, coils & more. read the above Opinion given it is a DD: Save $400 per wheel and put toward a small lift. Your wheels are forged aluminum - hard to beat. Get a 2-2.5" heavy lift for your stuff. Buy it as a set - see the thread...

    Pricing / value on LX450?

At those price points, rust is the major issue. Hard to mess with rust. If rust-free or light surface rust, that is a good deal. It is not locked, so be aware that is a big value upgrade.

Got the sliders on finally. Fit well.

Do I need A DC front driveshaft?

You kinda need to decide if you are happy with the lift or not and then address the DS. If you down to 4" you may hear different things or see the problem go away, etc. Other "too obvious" info - from a guy who didn't follow his own advice and has kinda learned the hard way: 1. Grease BOTH...

4Runner frame failures - could happen in older, rusted 80's

Tacoma's were made in the US with US Steel. 4Runners are made in Japan like 100's. Tundra made in Indiana don't have this issue. This is dumb.

Love the updates to the front end and the newly altered flairs, gentlemen!! So the Permatex is the way to go on the axle house vs the gasket? Axle Housing Gasket - Toyota (42181-60070) ??

    '96 LX450

Tried to swap in a head unit from my new Taco and need the connector harness pieces. Picked this up for that purpose. Son has trade it back to use for our Prius V, so we will be working on it going forward! :)

    Builds New LX450(s)

Yes - it is a LOT less now that the front drive shaft is removed, but similar . .just further back :) Assuming its the drive shaft and it simply needs grease. Thoughts?

    Builds New LX450(s)

I'm still getting the scratchy noise, so I am going to remove the rear drive shaft (once I get the new front one put on) and clean and re-grease it, too. Thx for the part number!

    '96 LX450

Yea I had hit some surface rust with Fluid Film, drove it around a bit, forgot about it, and then like a dumb dumb let it sit on the concrete.
