Most any paint will help prevent rust. If the rust is removed and a good base/primer the rust prevention will work better.
If you do not prepare the surface, the paint till not stick and just make a nice layer to hold the moisture against the metal thereby promoting rust. The goal is to...
Because of all the frame flex welding can crack, that's why for longer sections it is bolted or riveted. For just the receiver portion without a lot of stress and properly welded it should be fine. One huge factor, how strong is what you are welding it to? If is is heavy wall square tubing...
I'd go for the LS motor. Just know even the average moron will need a lot of patience. I swapped a 4BT into a Land cruiser 40. I got tired of working on it and let it sit for a year. It turned out nice, after a multi year project.
Patience grasshopper.
I have a 2003 Honda insight , it gets 54 MPG if I pay attention, 48 if I drive like a maniac. It's tiny, and has lots of road noise inside due to poor sound insulation.
I also have a 2018 GX460, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE driving, and gets 18 MPG.
My GX will never get the mileage my Honda...
Looks out of balance. See if there are any wheel weights on your tires. They may have been knocked off.
Some tire shops will actually grind down your tires to make them even, the re-balance.
I'm not the best at maf, but if I takes 4 1600 pounds I gets 6400 pounds.
MUD sez stock weight is 4850 pounds. It also sez various members have taken their 80's to the scale and approached 6900 pounds fully loaded.
If it were me I would go with a stronger wheel. I think that's what you were...
Love the story. Thank you .
It goes to show you can do almost anything with persistence. Lets see, France, Switzerland, Canada, Colorado, Canada, Colorado. Just the air travel costs and time involved are impressive.
Nice looking cruiser. The miles and current gas prices will keep the sales price down. The other factor is the economy is turning down, so all toys people don't really need will drop in price. The prices from early this year are not todays prices. If you look at the reserve not met on Bring a...
I think it might be a OK at $9000 if you have good knowledge of working on diesels.
Those GM diesels are never anyones first choice. Now if it had a Cummins, and was well sorted, I'd jump at it for $9000.
In an emergency you can burn a lot of things, I would not do it to save a few bucks.
I would not do it on a regular basis, there is enough of a difference to do damage over time.
Most cars run in a value cycle. Right now Land Cruisers are the flavor of the month.
If gas goes to $10 a gallon, I have a feeling gas guzzler prices will drop.
Don't buy it for an investment. If gas prices go up, a lot, like $10 per gallon which is very possible value will drop.
Buy it to enjoy and you want to keep it. If not, pass.
I've had some decent paint jobs from Maaco. I took everything off I could and I feel I got what I paid for.
I painted my BJ44 with bedliner, It cost me $300 and took a less than a day. It lives outside, never gets washed , gets desert pin striping and I used bedliner as it had parts from 3...
I love my 2018 GX460. I paid $40,000 about a year ago. It gets 18MPG.
I've had a 100 series, very nice if you like 14MPG and a very expensive timing belt change. I understand the 80 series gets even worse MPG. Then you have the joys of a 30 year old vehicle. Great if you want something to...
I want to compliment you and listening to your truck and paying attention. I've been working on vehicles for about 50 years, ask questions and try to figure things out. There are lots of people both on here and probably in you neighbor hood that are happy to help. I've always been happy to help...
I'm always reluctant to try to be a better engineer than those at Toyota. I imagine Toyota put them there for a reason. What you can do is remove the rusty ones and drive around to see if the vibration stops. Then as soon a possible replace them with nice used ones or new ones.
Someone on Mud...
