lookin good KAR, You need sliders now. metal techs are awesome. I have no affiliation with them either, I just was very impressed by the quality and attention to detail they put into them. They sure look like they could take one hell of a beating on the rocks.
here is the jack mounted up...
I am back to building bumpers once again, after the electrical construction job i was on came to an end. i have been back at it for about a month trying to get the ball rolling again. got a couple dual swingouts close to being finished.
and the mounting points on the back of the frame are...
moved the jerry can swing inward a few inches, taillight is now visable. still room for up to a 39" tire. this one is finally done and on its way to powdercoat for you Billy.
the bumper reciever is not rated, but i if i was a gambling man i would bet on it to handle 5000 lbs.
and another one for the scrap pile. i am gonna move it inward a few inches to unblock most of the taillight.
2nd try on the jerry can rank, the hub on the other one was too close to the tubing so the bearing cap would not fit on **** it. got it the 2nd time around thankfully.
got one weighed and the total is.....130 lbs. 90 for bumper with spindles in both sides, and 40lbs for the swing arm. i have upgraded the tire swing spindle again. this time to the 4x4 labs setup, and it is heavy duty. beefier than comp 4x4 1750 setup, with bigger bearings and a agricultural...
on a 97 cruiser. clears fender flares. time to get to work on another. i am gonna use comp either comp 4x4 1750 spindle or thier new double shear design spindle setup because they are an upgrade from the a to z mega spindle and only a couple bucks more.
maybe for jerry cans /highlift mount/maybe a cooler rack too. am not sure yet. here is a pic of the driver side wing support. the dang resonator on the passenger side makes it a little more difficult. it is gonna bolt on to side wing and frame. this bad boy is now ready for powdercoat. the price...
almost finally done.....
test fit, looks good. i made supports coming off the side protectors 1 3/4 sch 40 with 1/4 plate gussets that bolt onto landing plates that weld to the frame. the back frame brackets bolt onto the frame in five spots each. came out very solid holds a 35 bfg really...
yeah thats what i was kinda thinkin too. lot of freekin leverage by the spindle. i left the one i origanally put by the latch there anyhow. i think i might just hack that one off by the spindle.
made a stop for the swing arm, and drop pin sleeves to hold the swingarm closed and open. got this zinc plated 1/2" pin at a trailer supply for $4. i already had a spot to keep it closed on the backside of the bumper but i kind of liked the idea of having them next to each other....???:bang:
that is true they dont put a zerk on thier hub. that is kind of cheesy of them considering the amount they charge for thier setup. but jeep tubes has one in theirs, comp 4x4 puts 2 in thiers, and rock stomper even puts one in theirs. you can drill and tap a hole in it though, and get the zerk at...
