I'd never buy a prefabbed link. They are a premium and I only use EMF parts when I do build my own links. Can get a way higher premium part if you build it yourself. I've also seen the prefabbed links fail completely, pulling threads out and bending.
Reviving an old thread but better than starting from scratch really. But with all the offerings out there now what are people finding with their 80 series suspensions. I'm looking at doing a 4 inch lift of some sort would like to have good ride, flex, and load carrying capacity. I know that's...
Awesome thread. Anyone running the 32 spline shafts? I'm going to build a hybrid 80 rear with the 100 third and the 32 spline shafts in the future. I got a third lined up and a few 80 rears kicking around.
Just didn't want to invest the time required to redo all the mounts being he was selling it. If a person was doing a 3 link it would be a perfect time to do the upgrade housing.
Didn't end up using the housing. Just put the hellfire knuckles on and fixed up the front end a bit. He has since sold the truck and I'll share this thread with the new owner and maybe he can give some updates. The truck is also now on 40s.
Some updates to the truck. For those who are interested in aftermarket rear axle upper links the one's utopoo was running essentially ripped apart over time and were constantly coming loose. Having bushings at both ends under high flex situations caused the links to constantly be turning. Other...
Well the 3 link was done nicely. With the exception of a problem with the steering it turned out great. Had to move the tie rod in front of the axle and to do this had to use Chevy steering parts. However when turning to the left because the axle has been moved ahead the steering binds limiting...
Interested in seeing these when they are finished. Will probably get a set for my 40 so I don't have to worry about the tie rod being in the way of the lower links and getting bashed on something.
The Cruisin Offroad skid plate is nice. Easily bolted up and used factory holes to mount. Going to get Corey to talk to the guy about maybe a future transmission skid if possible. Only thing I would add to this skid is some steel rings around the three front bolts to keep the heads from getting...
Then I installed the AVM locking hub. start with the main body where the drive flange used to mount. Then install the spacer and the snap ring. And finish it off with the switch/cover.
Then I moved onto getting the front axle back together. Installed the third, Marlin Crawler seals, Longfields, and AVM locking hubs.
Installed the Marlin inner axle seals and then slipped in the chromoly Longfield inner shaft and birfield. Laid out all the gaskets and seals as per install...
