    Bent frame, what to do

Just to follow up on this, here is what I did. I never could get a shop to give me much concrete info, so I just went for it myself. I removed the engine and transmission then bought a used porta-power type frame repair kit off ebay. Using that along with my grinder and welder, I was able to...

    Bent frame, what to do

I sent some pics to a local shop here in Louisville, and it's a bit confusing, but I believe they are estimating ~12hr to correct the frame. Which puts that job in the 1100 - 1500 range and that's out of the question. I may get a second opinion if I can find another local shop. I'm still...

    Bent frame, what to do

Thanks for the advice. The initial price is low - likely less than 1k, though the specifics are TBD. I'll see if I can find a frame shop that will give me an estimate over the phone but I think I'm leaning towards a part out though it pains me. I'll post back what I find out.

    Bent frame, what to do

My buddy has a stock 97 LX with 283k on it which was involved in a front end collision - not his fault. No airbags deployed, but his insurance totaled it. He's not mechanical, I am, and seeing the pics I thought the damage looks repairable. So we start tearing into it and I get the radiator...

    Driveline Noises

Update: I added some more grease to the birfs and the noise is gone. Glad it was something easy. I didn't get the "One Shot" grease, but I did get some NLGI 0 grease instead of the usual NLGI 2, so it flowed a little better. I still have the other "hesitation", but I think I can track it...

    Driveline Noises

That makes sense. And yes I only hear the noise when I turn and pull away. I have a feeling that they have been abused. When I repacked everything last fall I noticed that there were discolorations on the outside of the birf - like heat marks that match up with each of the 6 balls. I'll try...

No, it has no lockers and is completely stock.

    Driveline Noises

I rebuilt the birfield joints last fall. I think they're still in good shape. No leaks or seepage on the housing, though I should probably check the grease level somehow.

    Driveline Noises

Hi, I have an unlocked 97 LC with 215k on the clock. Everything is stock with the exception of the OME Medium lift and 285 tires. It drives beautifully most of the time. There are 2 issues that I'm feeling/hearing that I'm concerned with and unable to find any hits on the forums. They may...

    VIN decoding quesiton

Hi. I just bought a 97 LC (my first LC and first Toyota) with 208k on it. I put the VIN in Toyota VIN decoder - Lookup and check Toyota VIN number and get options and specs for free. and it tells me a lot of things, obviously. But it says that my LC is the 40th Anniversary Edition. However...
