Sputtering, loss of power - Case of Beer for the person solves! :)

I had a similar issue when I got my 80, would run fine and then out of the blue was like a big miss. I chased many things, but thankfully it started one day and stayed in the condition long enough for me to figure out the issue. Number 1 injectors pins weren't making a good connection...

    Rebuilt Motor - Failure. Hypothesize

I get it, my 80 is pretty slow. I have a 100 and a Tundra with the 5.7. Lots of power in the Tundra, but it's no where near as tough as the 80. Looks like you have a lot invested in the 80, so I'm guessing you like it. I would find out what is wrong with the engine before I sell it off. At...

    Rebuilt Motor - Failure. Hypothesize

IMO, forced induction is another layer of complexity and problems. If more power is what you want/need then I'd say start looking at what another powerplant costs. There are lots of LS swaps out there, and plenty of knowledge around it. But it's going to cost you a lot in money and time, if...

    Rebuilt Motor - Failure. Hypothesize

Well a stuck injector can cause this, but I can't think of a situation where the ECU is putting in so much fuel it would cause this if it's working as expected. Adding a supercharger, especially OEM, I wouldn't think could cause this. But what I don't quite understand is the low compression...

    Rebuilt Motor - Failure. Hypothesize

If it was running way too rich then the cylinder walls could have been washed down from oil which could either burn them up or cause low compression, I believe. The head needs to come off to really know what's wrong, IMO. Or at the very least get a camera down in there to inspect the...

    New tires, new wobble

Yeah, true, it didn't occur to me that the lugs may not have seated correctly. Good call!

Need shop near Little Rock, Ar to help with knock issue

Well the symptoms are strange to me. A "knock" until it gets warm is usually a misdiagnosed exhaust manifold crack. The oil pressure thing is probably just thick oil when it's cold. If you're running something like 20w-50 in the cold months, that's way to viscous, I normally run 10w-30 or...

    New tires, new wobble

So I just replaced my Yokohama Geolandar's with some Falken WIldpeaks and went from 31's to 33's. Now I've got a wobble I can't quite figure out, maybe y'all can help. Everything is smooth as butter in a straight line or if you are in a substantial turn, but if you are in a very slight turn...

New 80 series owner - Did I make a Mistake?

IMO that truck is a trail rig now. The rust will make everything hard to do, and it will never stop now that it's that deep. What you can see is about 50% (or less) of the actual rust. If you were my friend I'd tell you to try to at least get your money out of it, make a little if you can of...

    More paint, more problems

So you can save a lot of money doing the prep yourself, but the downside is you will be without the use of the vehicle for a while. Remember, you can have two of these; quick, cheap and good. So you pick which two you want. If it's quick and good, it ain't gonna be cheap. So doing the prep...

    Rotors warped again

Yeah, I found that as well. I ran almost that much through, nearly 2 quarts myself. Having the pressure bottle bleeder system with he Toyota adapter makes bleeding brakes a breeze. But you're right, so much garbage came out well after the bubbles were gone.

    Rotors warped again

Time will tell, but I am damn sure going to check them before anymore new rotors go on that truck!

    Rotors warped again

I'm closing the loop on this one with my final solution. In the end I found that the problem was likely two-fold. Initially the bad vibrations were warped rotors from stuck calipers. The second time I had bad vibes might have been rotors, but I now suspect it was a loose wheel bearing. So I...

OEM vs reman brake booster question

I would use a good quality after market booster. I know OEM is the best, but that's a lot of coin, and a bad booster doesn't mean no brakes. I see Cruiser Corps is selling after market boosters, if that's worth anything...

I'll use this going forward, thanks!

    Rotors warped again

What's your process, in case I get to do this again? I torqued to 43ftlb, backed it off and torqued back to 43, backed it off and tightened till I got about 7.5lbs of pulling force before hub rotation. Basically the FSM procedure. But it sounds like I'll be doing this again soon, so I want to...

    Rotors warped again

So this *could* have been the winner! I pulled off the caps today and found the locking nut on one side little more than finger tight. Odd since I just replaced the rotors a few months ago...but I have been known to screw up now and again. So I went through the torquing process and got it all...

    Rotors warped again

So in both cases after I put on the new rotors they were smooth as butter. It has taken time for them to start warping and the pulsating sensation. I did order a set of SS brake lines, but I'm trying to figure out why it would be both front rotors that are warping. I suppose two lines could...

    Rotors warped again

Not OEM, PowerStop (?) and Duralast. I've used Duralast on other vehicles without issue. But, sure, could be the issue. I setup a dial gauge yesterday and was seeing .03-.04mm runout. so the pulsing isn't crazy yet, but it's getting worse. Yeah, I recall that being the case too. But good...

    Rotors warped again

So I've been chasing brake issues for a bit now. I my new rotors warped within a few thousand miles, after I had rebuilt the front rotors which were really crusty. So thinking the calipers were still sticking I bought rebuilt calipers and had the rotors turned. Everything was good for another...
