Check out Malpets. You can download trail maps and it uses GPS function (NOT cellular data!) to get your location info. I find when I'm in the middle of nowhere, so long as I have the map preloaded there's no problems.
You can pull in tons of maps, or even submit your own. For most offroad...
Sounds oddly familiar...
Here's my writeup on changing brushes and cleaning the alternator. You might find it helpful depending on your own diagnosis:

Sigh. Why to people keep trying to inject this as a reason to do PT conversion?
As a guy who's actually DONE it, I can tell you the reasons to do a PT conversion.
1) Lift. If you go into the 4" range, you're going to probably have vibration issues. PT kit fixes that.
2) Drivability in...
As I said in the 2nd post:
"Put the lock plate in, and then spin the nut onto it. Once it gets seated, tap it until it's tight, then back it off again. There's (surprise!) a bit of controversy about the preload settings on this... however, you don't have many choices. Here, the phililps screw...
Since you removed both your sway bars, that's not a fair comparison. For me, I ditched my ABS & LSPV and brakes are MUCH better. I feel fully confident now, where before I could never get a good pedal feel, and always worried about a panic stop due to the "lack" of brakes.
Denso reman is about $140, so certainly don't buy the in-store junk. Also look at Amazon - if you have Prime, you can get it same/next day for that price.
You could not have installed the brushes the wrong way, so I would say the regulator took a bath and that's that.

There are kits you can buy to inject cleaner into the evaporator housing to help clean it out. I did it on mine, and it made a substantial difference. Nasty crap came out of the drain tube. Also changing the dryer and expansion valve is what it took to get mine back to right.
