I have put in new shock hoops on my fj55. I am interested in getting new shocks. I have heard Bilsteins are good shocks and I have heard that the 5100 version were good. It was suggested, however, that I get the 5125 version.
Any of you guys want to weigh in on this? At rest on the...
The arm on my wiper is sliping. When I take it off it looks like the splines are almost worn smooth. The inside of the arm is definitely smooth. Has anybody got any ideas how to go about fixing this?!!
are they bad?
Quick stupid question. How does one know the shocks are bad? I have friends do a little jump on the bumper. That's really how you check them? When I have 5 people in my 55 and we go through a dip the back end seems to bottom out. Is that from bad shocks?
I was told that they were not out there until later. I have a '75 and no seatbelts. I saw what was supposedly a 73 and it had them, so I looked on my pillars and felt a round indention under the liner right where they could be. I have to do a little exporatory to make certain, but why would...
I,ve got a 55 and it has no power steering. I always here about power steering, but it seems to always be with the 350. Does the straight six have a power steering setup. Do you loose power, which with my thing is always a concern. Slooooowwww but true.
Just went up to mount Baldy in...
turns out it was the rear heater core. Super bummer just got it worked on by the radiator man. No luck on that one.
Plug the lines and go.
There aren't any cores around? I just saw one, looked brand new for $400 bucks! I need to win the Cal lottery. I guess I need to buy a ticket.
fj 55 with the 2f motor-
when the car is under a load it puts off a strong smell of what I think is radiator fluid smell. So when I go up a hill the cab starts to smell strongly like radiator fluid! yuck! I have done some work- new radiator hoses all the way around as well redone head and...
I use it when the snow is thick and I need to get to the hill, or down to Mexico. I am not doing tons of wheeling. The body looks good but the rust issues keep me in the "got to make it last mode". It's mostly about hauling the troops to out of the way places.
Thinking of doing a conversion over to propane\ gas. Any ideas about this? Better emissions, cheaper fuel, longer life on the engine and fluids, find propane anywhere, and it seems that a lot of the Aussies are using this conversion. What are the downsides? Nothing can be that good.
