I'm using one from speedhut.com and a sender from jagsthatrun.com . It screws onto the speedo output on the t-case then the cable goes onto it. Speed hut also has one that works off GPS so no cable is needed.

Yes its still runs. The power loss goes away within a few seconds of exiting the water. sometimes it dies but restarts and sometimes it just idles real low for a few seconds then goes back to normal. doesnt even set a code or turn on the cel every time.
I dont think so. Its mounted higher than my air intake. could get some splash but i looked under the hood last time and there wasnt any water anywhere near that high in the engine compartment.
I have a '97 model 5.7 in my 40. its been in for a little over a year and runs great except for when i cross deep water it loses all power and some times dies shortly after the water crossing. the only code im getting is po132 witch i beileve is an o2 code. At first i was sure it was the crank...
im running a stock 4sp t-case with a VSS that runs off the speedo cable. (had to have that for the Vortec) the speedo gets a signal from the VSS. Speedhut also has a speedo that uses GPS so theres no programing. Ill bring some picks of mine to the meeting this week.
Have you looked at speedhut.com for gauges? I have them in mine and love them. They also have a programmable fuel gauge that will work with any sender

You should have a stake nut on the back of the t-case. Tightn it down a hit the side of the nut with a chisel to press it into the groove on the output shaft. Sorry cant tell you the thickness of the shim/washer, parking brake whent back together yesterday :meh:
