Ultimate OEM 4X SERIES PARTS IN STOCK

Hi Marco, This is Petra, Cruiser Guy's widow This is Petra. I can't help you with this question, sorry. Cruiser_Guy died more than four years ago and with him a vast pool of knowledge. Having said this, I am continuing living a life if adventure, though. I am currently in North Africa.

Really basic help but not much to go on

There is a Toyota dealership in Freetown!! Have him drive towards "Upgun" on the main highway into Freetown. On his right side, about 1 mile - 1/2 mile or so BEFORE Upgun he should see the Toyota sign. Too bad this didn't happen last year. We were living there until January of this year...

    Limited slip differentials

I run an Aussie in the rear and an LSD up front. The steering is tougher when the hubs are locked and the transfer case is in 4wd but it's not impossible. I have no power steering yet.

Would this trailer be to large to pull with a 40?

Can you?? Yes. But the real question is: "Is it wise?" That is an unequivocal NO!!" I've towed a flat bed with trailer brakes that had a 55 shell on it behind my '60. Did it pull it?? Yes. Was it a good idea? It seemed so at the time but in retrospect NO. Folks in Costa Rica use '40's...

    T-case crossmember help please!

I did not like the idea of the "propellor" mount (I know many folks have been using them for years) so this is what I did on the '55. https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-pig-preservation-society/174972-september-potm-cruiser-guy-guatemala.html#post2500543 Basically it is an FJ60 tranny case and...

Top SECRET FJ55 build for an injured friend

The lines are special order and EXPENSIVE. I have the ends from a rusty set of lines here if you want them. Ends are good but the lines are rusted off a few inches back. Someone with some double flaring skills should have no issues. Send me a PM if you want these.

    Drilled drums?

Interesting reading the links. The fellow writing the second link seems to think the drilled drums BEAT the performance of discs!! Keep us informed of this.

    Gearbox leaking from top breather

My bet is over full. When you filled the tranny it only gets filled to the bottom of the filler plug, NOT more. I had oil leaking out the tranny when the seal in between the tranny and transfer blew out and the transfer oil overfilled the tranny.

Pto Winch- what did the factory do? And how bout you?

I created a wedge for both between the winch and frame and under the frame between the frame and nut holding the winch. The nut and bolt need to be in alignment as well or things break and bend. I used 1/4" or 3/8" steel bar and just ground it to a wedge shape after drilling the holes for the...

Any thoughts on the cut your own gasket material?

I do it all the time too. I'll buy a gasket set if I know I'm going to be doing some PM but for roadside repairs or emergencies the gasket material works fine.

Brakes: Front drums to disc with no kit at all

I'll bet this is something done either in Central America or elsewhere away from the USA/Canada. In Central America disc's did not come out in '75/'76 like they did here. I've seen '80's with 4 wheel drums and three speed trannies!! They are great innovators but I'm not sure I'd trust all...

    Radio thoughts

Are you looking for the OEM radio? I have a working AM only factory radio. PM if interested. It was in my '76 FJ55 till I found a rare AM/FM model and swapped that in.

    will a G42 gearbox mate with a 3B?

Yep, fine spline to fit the clutch disc pictured and you're good to go. Coarse spline is the "F/H" model.

    OEM A/C Unit R-34 Retrofit

Yes, make the switch now if you are contemplating it. It's a bigger pain in the butt later. The dryer will work and you say you have a new one. The "O" rings and hoses may not be R134a compatible but your A/C guy should be able to tell you.

    will a G42 gearbox mate with a 3B?

Yes, an H55/H41/H42 that was made for the "B" series engine. The H55/H41/h42 for the "H/F" series of engines will not fit as the input shaft is incorrect (though it could be changed out and made to work).

    OEM A/C Unit R-34 Retrofit

Do NOT under any circumstances use "Freeze12". There is no A/C shop around that will service the system once Freeze12 has been used (some shops will install it as a last gasp effort for the vehicle but will not service it after that. I have R134a in both my '76 FJ55 and my '82 BJ60 and I have...

When you spin the drum by hand or turn the driveshaft the slots should move into alignment.

    H41 Transmission

The H41 can easily be mated to the 3 speed transfer case. There is little difference in the gears though you cannot mix and match any gears you can change the output shaft if you need a 16 spline instead of a 19 spline shaft. I have an H41 and three speed transfer case in my '55. There are...

    PTO Install Instructions needed.

Spin the drum and it should slip in. The drum needs to be in the right place for it to engage.

Source for odd 4 speed H41 bearings

As far as I know North America did not get 4 speeds till '75 or so. There are older 4 speeds out there though so maybe that's what you have. We'd need more info to help you out. Get the bearing inside and outside diameter, total width, any numbers on it and if it is a tapered roller bearing...
