Pics could be better. Cassette is at bottom of rollbar. Over the shoulder bracket bolted to OEM rollbar bracket. Across lap seat belt bolted at OEM location, (I think.) Seat belt latch, in this case, is apparently stock Solara, but we may have installed Ford latch inside housing. (Been 14...
OK A little more clarification. this is my 1975 with factory rollbar. Seats are 2006 Toyota Solara. The 1972, with custom rollcage, is now in my son's custody. I might be able to get pics this weekend,. End of the day, we used our imagination to install.
BTW, ... I had a professional do the welding. I'm really just a hack welder, ... hit and miss on quality.
This being a safety component, I went with a Pro.
I made them. Basically a steel triangle (3/8") with a hole for belt cassette to bolt to. Welded to rollbar.
Bet you could find something suitable during a junkyard crawl.
I put 1998 to 2002 Ford F150 3 points in both our 1972 and 1975 FJ40s. Pulled from junkyard and welded over the shoulder brackets to both custom (1972) and factory (1975) rollbars. Inboard Ford buckles merely bolted in.
Over 10 years in service and I'm very happy with them.
I put 1998 (I think) Solara (sp?) seats in the 1975, ... recline and are very comfortable. Little bit higher than stock and I believe they could be rigged for heaters. Got 'em from a local junkyard.
Not City Racer, but 16" wheels ala Mr. Manny's specs.
Toyo M-55s, 255/85/r16
2-1/2" Alcan lift in rear, 200-300 lbs in back.
PO installed shackle reversal in front, ... unknown lift.
Can't comment on that. I haven't had an F series engine in a '40 since 1978!
However, POSER posted an extensive build thread a decade or so ago on putting an h55f behind an F motor. (IIRC) That inspired our putting that tranny behind the ramjet in the 1972.
FWIW I run an NV4500 tranny (not BudLight!) behind a 350, with 255/85/r16 (33") Toyos.
RPMs are 2,200 at 65 mph in 5th.
1975 FJ40 with stock diffs.
I prefer this tranny over the h55 we put in the '72. Lower 1st gear.
