I’ve got the remflex gasket on the shelf, it’ll definitely be going on, but I can’t bring myself to mounting it until I’ve removed a bunch of the defects.
I bit the bullet and bought the much maligned JTO header for “the mistress” I’m at a point where it has to be at least somewhat mobile, and can’t continue waiting for the Marks/Downey unit in development…
The JTO header is pretty bad quality overall and I’m bummed that a new part like it is...

Currently, I’m watching the Downey Header thread religiously hoping for an update to order a new header for the 40, then she’ll be back on the road. Now that I have a second project...
That is correct, 1987 mini truck pump to 60 series gearbox. Pretty sure it’s a modified smog pump bracket, was done as a part of a full Desmog in 2009. Pretty sure @FJ40Jim was where I sourced everything. I’ve been very happy with it over the years.
It’s a circa 2009 conversion, sourced through @FJ40Jim, I believe it’s a 1987 mini truck pump with remote reservoir to a 60 series gearbox. Worth every penny invested.
removed the manifolds, ordered new studs and an EGR cooler block off plate and other needed items for a gentle refresh from @FJ40Jim and @ToyotaMatt. Hoping to get this old girl back on the road shortly!
Removed the carb and heat shield. Soaking the manifold nuts/bolts to “hopefully” replace the intake gasket and get this build back on the road for the first time in 11 years.
Picked up a set of Cooper Discoverer AT3's (235/80/17) from Fb Marketplace, purchased, primed and painted a set of 17" 4Runner steel wheels. Overall I'm very pleased with the look. A definite improvement over the 13 year old tires that were on the rig!
