I figured I would throw together a small life update.
I wish I could say that I have installed the sniper and have been driving around. Unfortunately that's not true.
Life finds a way of distracting me.
Good news is: I have a son! Marshall was born May 2023.
Maybe this winter I will get my...
If you have trouble with that fiber reinforced body filler like I did, I’d highly recommend ever coat rage gold body filler. The fiber glass wouldn’t lay down smooth enough for me and required a ton of sanding. Rage gold sticks really well, sands well, and goes on nicely.
Also remember with...
If I were you, I’d try to pull comps from Barrett Jackson or other auction sites where the pricing might be more favorable:

From those pictures it looks like you have a 3 bolt saginaw box. That would have different mounting hole locations than the 4 bolt mounting plate that you have.
What does it look like with your Saginaw unit bolted up? It doesn't have to be exact but if it is pointed too low, you would need to cut off the mount and reattach it at a higher angle. Make sure you reinforce that hole with a piece of tubing or something. Cutting the hole really weakens that...
Well the people at Holley are a bunch of liars... Instead of giving me until the end of August to research and dream about the EFI set up. They decided to send it right away...
Well for the past few months, I haven't done much to ol' Flora Jean. Just enjoyed her presence and had trouble with the carb. I have been playing around with the idea of upgrading the carb to EFI but the initial investment has been keeping me back.
Well for my 30th birthday, my brothers...

That way you can keep the stock fuel pump.
The spring and pin are needed the most/ a way to mount the spring to the plate. It’s a wear item and easily lost. To my knowledge no one is making them.
An idea for y'all. The horn brush/ horn seat on early FJ40 steering wheels. It is an easily lost part and difficult to find.
Thanks for working on these components!
Hey guys,
I have tried searching but am running up short unless someone can point me in the right direction.
After fiddling around with my SD-40 for a while and having difficult cold starts when it's cold, I think I might venture into the EFI relm. I read that the autolite 1100 will bolt up...
I would go to your nearest Automotive paint supplier and ask them what they recommend. Either Finishmasters, Sherwin Williams auto paint, or PPG auto paint stores. Each of those stores will have their own lines of 2k epoxy and single stage/ 2 stage paints. They should have a couple tiers...
