I leave them in. Almost Never a reason to remove them on normal RB. On most carbs playing with fire taking them out . High risk of damaging things that only need to be cleaned.
I Would try it on that. What I always did were round holes drilled in good steel but I bet it works ok and can fill the pits like the body guys do the dents. I'd be watching youtube quite a bit before tying long areas on the surface though. Can Try brazing if you have oxy acetylene and can do...
This is the ONLY way I've ever filled holes up to at least 1/4" or maybe even 5/16"- rat tail file the hole to clean metal- heat around it with propane torch (acety will work if careful)- quick circles around the OD of the hole- solder onto the steel- depending how well you get at it it will...
Thought the idler shaft/bearings was the death of one of these if not fixed, I've only done full rebuilds (terrain tamer) ?? out of a kit but think often only the shaft/bearings can be done however idk how to check short of full disassembly- FWIW when I put earlier 2.32 3 spd tcase onto my 4spd...
Have skyjackers on 2 40s from years ago. not overly flexible especially on the v8 no top 40- very hard.. I'd read up on leaf springs many better options now.
Have to make plugs- using Expansion plugs- bolts hose clamped into heater hoses etc if it's complete. if you plug it well you can put lots more than 20# in it. since theres no radiator to blow- I've put a lot in years ago right off an air compressor - you just listen for leaks. If you hear any...
Compression test checks the combustion chamber. When blocks/heads/manifolds freeze with water in them they can crack the block, head castings in strange spots where they buckle out slightly and crack. a radiator- type pressure testing will show leaks out of the water jacket. Don't hear of it too...
Yes .very concerned if it's complete can cap off all hoses find wat to pressure test. Either hand pump or rig a regulator and plumb in using compressed air at about 20psi

I watched an old guy I worked with do it 30+ years ago. Cut apart 8 wheels with a torch saving centers and rims. Trued then welded them up with a stick welder . Turned out nice. Do it yourself then it's a learning experience.
