Before and after. I had the bezel stripped and repainted then I painted the grille a contrasting color so the new "Toyota" badge would pop to maybe reduce the number of Jeep waves, assuming the jeep owner can read.
Love it so far, drives real nice. Same tight quarters as my 40 but with the wheel base, coil springs and H55F it drives much better. Plenty of power with the 383 ci.
I did a search here and found nothing. Google kind of helped but nothing definitive, looked like some after market options.
What is the proper badge for the bottom right (raised oval) of the 45 tailgate? Does the year matter? Its a '77.
Fixed!!
Thank you for the lead on the part number!
They look a heck of a lot better!
They actually work by staying in place at highway speed!
Plus reasonably priced!
I tried 400 grit sandpaper slid in as an abrasive between the ball and the plastic, improvement but still a fail. I don't think I have enough room to slide a star washer in with out cracking the plastic or something breaking but I do have another plan before I buy new mirrors, I shall report back.
As soon as these mirrors see any wind the mirror adjustment moves enough that they are useless. The metal structure is all good but it is not possible to tighten on the "adjusting ball" enough to keep them in one place. Any tighter and it would definitely strip the threads. I bought these long...
All great advice above.
I tell you this since you said you have never owned or drove one before. The top removal on 40's is a pain in the arse.
Not bad if you only do it occasionally but if you plan to be taking the top on and off multiples times in a year, be ready for it, such as a solid...
I took my 40 top off the day it was delivered 13 years ago and it hasn't seen daylight or been back on the 40 since then.
I had a hoist at the time and it was still a PIA to take off.
They are 17" steel Allied beadlocks. I dont recall the model name and dont have my receipts with me. They have been great on the trails and on the road for 12/13 years, zero leaks.
No update for me.
I'm not convinced I want to spend this much coin on tires and wheels just to change appearance when my current situation looks pretty good and rides good too.
Maybe the itch will resurface.
