    Excess play in steering

Yeah, it seems like it might be in the box as there is significant rotation of the steering linkage before it “stops” and engages to turn the wheels. BTW, speedometer you sold me works great!

    Excess play in steering

Thanks for the reply. No power steering and as far as I can tell, all suspension and steering components are original (PO replaced F1 engine with a a ‘79 F2 and tranny/transfer case from an early ‘80’s fj60). When The vehicle is parked and I turn the steering wheel, there is a few degrees of...

    Excess play in steering

My 1970 pig drives fine but I’m constantly battling the excess play in the steering when I’m at higher speeds on the highway. It’s more annoying than anything but was wondering if there is a way to tighten this up a bit. Appreciate any advice. Thanks

Leaky transfer case front flange seal

Yeah, that other leak was my fault for not tightening up my oil pressure sender when it was replaced. This leak has always been there and it’s definitely coming from the flange

Leaky transfer case front flange seal

Hard to tell. When it’s all back together I can’t see any of the internal parts to know. I’m still puzzled by the damaged rubber washer I found in there. I think the PO attempted a DIY fix cause the schematic only shows the larger rubber flange seal And no other small rubber washer.

Leaky transfer case front flange seal

    No. Looked perfect

Leaky transfer case front flange seal

I recently explored the cause of my leaky front flange seal from the transfer case and despite my efforts have been unable to stop the leak. After dropping the front shaft and removing the nut the holds the front flange in place, I was surprised to find no washer or flange seal but some torn up...

    Rear Window Tight Fit?

I had this exact problem when I rebuilt my tailgate. The glass came with the pig when I bought it and channels were in place. Installed the felt in the side channels and had the same problem; it was too tight for the motor to move the window. I removed the felt that was adjacent to the edge of...

    Front differential fluid leak

Floor was rusted out and I can see a weld around the shifter plate so I’ll bet it was modified.

    Oil pressure gauge

That’s what I found when I replaced the sender but there still seems to be some kind of mismatch

    Front differential fluid leak

It seems fine. Bench seat is a little soft but the position works for shifting. I’m looking for something to give me a little better back support and that keeps me from sliding down all the time.

    Front differential fluid leak

Front wheel fenders we’re pretty rusted out and we’re just trimmed off. The PO bought used replacement front fenders but never got around to doing the work. I’ve got them if I ever feel motivated but I kind of like the way she looks as is. Everything is working great (except oil pressure gauge)...

    Front differential fluid leak

Sorry about the typo, it’s a 4 speed. Figured out my suspected front diff leak; I recently replaced the oil pressure sender (another thread) and didn’t tighten it up well. Oil was leaking onto the yoke of the front drive shaft and I thought it was transmission fluid. Solved that but still can’t...

    Oil pressure gauge

Gauge barely rises at all so until the gauge is somehow calibrated, I have no idea if the pressure is in a reasonable range

    Oil pressure gauge

    Thanks. No hurry.

    Oil pressure gauge

Mechanical oil pressure measured today at 55-60 psi with engine cold and hot, fairly consistent. Is there a way to calibrate the gauge? Thanks

    Front differential fluid leak

Good advice. It’s a bit out of my league and I’m having it looked at by a mechanic this week. Thanks
