It has been several years since I visited this thread, again. Too busy, other interests, just plain old life in general. But, I've had something pretty "Cool" happen to my Land Cruiser since last July and I got to go get my truck back today. Vintage Air has been using my truck to design and...
I just scrolled through this thread because my truck is about to be featured in a local magazine and the publisher may include a link.
A couple of things came to mind.
I stopped posting for a while at #334 in July 2009 and didn't post again until early 2011. That is because my Dad was dying...
Wow, your paint job looks super smooth. Nice looking truck.
My soft top is just a Bestop and is temporary until I can get motivated enough to repair the rust in my rear cab panel, or run across a decent one that I can afford.
I put the truck and my Nova in the local car show this weekend. The truck didn't win squat, I should have had it in a different category. It was my first car show so I had no idea what I was doing.
But, My Nova won 2nd place in the Muscle Car Division. They didn't have a Pro Street category...
I responded earlier from work using memory about the bumper mounting. It's actually 8 bolts total but only 2 holes drilled.
It's a little dirty in this picture because I've been driving it some lately.
I made me some solid aluminum spacers to replace the 2X4's in the earlier pictures and it...
Thanks! The bumper and hitch are welded together as one unit and it is bolted to the frame and frame corner braces in 6 places. 4 of the holes were already in the frame so I only had to drill 2 new holes.
I finally got around to snapping a picture of the rear bumper/hitch that I came up with for my truck. I made it using a set of leftover Frontier-gear side steps that were manufactured wrong and a used receiver hitch that's been laying around here forever. I really wanted one of the Con-Fer...
I'm updating this ancient thread because I'm about to do something that is going to make a big difference in how much I enjoy this Land Cruiser.
Warmer weather is near and I plan to drive this truck quite a bit.
I remember reading threads years ago about seat mods to make the FJ45 more...
Those are some really cool pictures and your truck turned out beautiful.
I bet that guy in the first picture had to get really contorted to fit inside the cab and drive that truck around.
Where have you been? I've been waiting to buy some of your tailgate chains. Are you going to have some canvas covers made for them?
I hope all is well. I enjoy your threads.
Very nice! Kind of a once in a lifetime find.
I'm curious about the rear bumper. Is it homemade or can you tell if it was manufactured by some company?
That's awesome. I can't wait until you get the tailgate chains done because I've been looking for one going on 4 years now. I missed out on a set on Ebay a while back because I had family over at the time and I'm not very good at the whole Ebay thing.
Looking forward to watching your...
Bed
That bed looks awesome. You're a talented man.
When I put my bed together I was amazed at what a key role these couple of welds (where you have bolts now) play in the whole assembly. They seem to give the side panels all of their strength and determine if your tailgate lines up properly...
