Was out the other night and passed a black FJ40, diamond plating on the rear corners, on Carlton Avenue (has a 4-Sale Sign in the window) and a white FJ40 on Third Avenue (maybe 15th street). That's a lot of FJ40s in one night..:)
Thanks for the response, will give the folks at Jake's a call. Just pulled the FJ40 our of the garage "a sunny day" and the truck is still in need of some body work and a paint.
Is this the style you are looking for? This one has some light surface rust, but not in to the metal. I think I have another one, but I have to check it our to see what it looks like.
I have the hinges as well.
Searching...
I did some searching on this and couldn't find any references to 4x4 access. But maybe it being kept on the down-low by the locals...:grinpimp:.

Where are they now?
Maybe we should post up pictures of our "sold" trucks under a thread - Where are they now? and see what we can find.
Who knows maybe we can track a few down. Might be kind of fun.:grinpimp:
Older Picture - Before I painted
Here is another picture of the truck before the paint was done. The paint was done by a guy recommended on this board. His name is Bob and he has a little shop in Long Island - Long Beach area.
An update...you may have read that I recently found my old 72'FJ40 while walking in Manhattan a few weeks ago. About 18 months ago I sold it via ebay to a Doctor living in Vermont. When I saw the truck it had New York tags I couldn't believe it was back in NYC.
I left a note on the dash and...
