BaT Miami: (Not Mine) 1994 FZJ75 Pickup LX

HAH. But re: your last comment... I have no idea what you are talking about, pal! Yours is ALREADY a clean-room example of a 70 series pick up. Bravo!

Ohh yes. Though my wife says that I am still not allowed to sell my 70 series pick up 😃 She clearly has my best interests in mind

It has seemed to always be a good time, unless you are trying to sell one with a box of donuts and shady EPA/NHTSTA compliance scheme! 🤣

How does one show CBP that the engine manufacture date? Is that stamped on the engine assembly somewhere?

Can you provide a reference / proof from the EPA website or EPA form about this? Trying to refresh my own memory on this. Thanks

Wanted Four Door Pickup HJ75 or HZJ75

Glazing, seatbelts, lights, front bumper...etc are all subject to FMVSS, so if they do not comply, they are not legal for importation.

For Sale France LHD 1994 HZJ75 Pickup with only 104,000km (65k miles)

This was exactly my experience. I found a BJ75 in NL with rust and beaten and battered for EUR 19.000 or so and the pre-purchase inspector concluded, "don't buy this garbage, the frame is split and the compression sucks", so I offered the seller EUR 15.000 and he said to bugger off, so I walked...

SOLD 1989 BJ-75 Troopcarrier for sale in Colorado - LHD

I almost bought this in 2016, I think I even had a PPI done at the local toyota dealer. There were, at that time a few things to be done. I don't recall it having much wrong with it other than one of the front leafs being longer than the other, and a bunch of other small things. You can see in...

craigslist Maltec Toyota Explorer Series 7

That is a horror story. Can you imagine spending that kind of money only to find that is not US road legal? There is, unfortunately, no way for Maltec to import that vehicle on a 80 series chassis legally. All vehicles imported must comply with FMVSS or if older than 25 years, be in original...

Also not legal, I'm afraid, because *some* of the parts imported into the US are not legal for importation. Parts such as the front bumper, head lamps, and other components, which are regulated under DOT FMVSS, for a non US vehicle will almost always be without DOT markings, rendering them not...

Also not legal because several of the parts (e.g., front bumper, headlamps) installed do not comply with US DOT FMVSS

You don't have to agree with me. You are describing state-level policies, whereas we are discussing importation, which falls under the remit of the Federal government through its agency arms of the Department of Transportation, EPA, and Customs and Border Protection.

To answer your question clearly, yes, it is illegal to import.
