Hmmm. somethings poopy on that deal. Nitto D's are $133. Even the load E's are less at $161.
Tire dealers make more on the BFG's than on Nittos. He entered $177 manually I would guess. Quick typie fingers.
You got great tires anyway. I think I'm going back to BFG's due to poor tread life...
" I considered them until I went to Discount Tire and they were MORE than either the 8 or 10 ply BFG AT KO's. I went with the BFG's...out the door with replacement certificates for $870. This data point is from the Abilene, Texas Discount Tire on 7-8-06. "
No way unless you went to a local...
-wear / Looks like my 295's will be gone at about 32K. The BFG AT's they repalce went 50K.
-puncture resistance (sidewall) / Pretty much like an the other AT tires.
-chunking / The compound is a bit soft and they will tear on shrp rocks.
-noise / Excellent.
-balance / Good
-snow/ice...
Toyo M55 - I love that tire - if only they made them in a larger size I would own a set today! Why don't these guys perk up and make these in 295 and 315 sizes?
I've considered those tires - Dunlop RVXT. They look like they could work very well, especially on wet pavement.
I've run the old " Rover " AT's in the past and they wore well. Pretty hard compound, but the price was right.
Tire Rack reviews put the RVXT in the #4 slot in the AT category...
In other words - they are great moderate temp - dry contact tire - i.e. southwest - baja. They are not good on wet pavement or in mud of any kind, especially in cool climates.
Best of their time - but surpassed by many other tires now....
OK - so I can't remember everything anymore. I'm getting old. My Excursion GVWR is 8,900#.
My 2002 V10 truck specs at 7,232# dry stock. The stock 325HP has been bumped to at least 375 with mods. The torque is probably hovering arounf 500# now.
I've managed to stuff another 250# of crap...
Nope - they are perfectly aligned and balanced.
The driver of the GMC uses his truck hard and fast. No uneven wear anywhere -the tire just plain wore out in no time flat. He uses everything hard and fast.
The Superduty driver is me and I drive nice and easy. Mostly highway miles and the...
I've run both and am running both currently on different trucks.
The AT Revo's are not "just like the MTX's" you currently have. They are a better off road tire and IMHO a better on road tire. I don't know if they will give the same service life. The current set of Revo's on a 97 80 LC have...
The only thing about the Nittos is - how long will they last? They are awesome on wet pavement and many conditions, but I don't know that they are going to give good long term service.
I have a set of 295 75 16's on a 8,000# vehicle and as it stands now I really don't expect to get more than...
Pretty sure they were 34 9.5's. Actually I think they are still in production. Specter used to have a photo of a red 60 series just like mine with 34's in one of their catalogs circa late 80's. Used to air them down to 10 psi for sand.
I ran 34 9.5 15 BFG AT's on a 60 and really liked the ride, performance and look. Basically about the same tire you are talking about other than tread.
Jim - I can specifically answer your question re BFG's. After going through probably 10 sets of BFG AT's over the past 22 years I will never buy another set. They are over priced and there are far better tires available. Specifically three: Bridgestone AT Revos, Nitto Terra Grappler AT's and...
