    Deleting Coolant Overflow Bottle

Deleting the bottle probably isn't the best option, but if you were to do so, you'd have to allow for expansion inside the radiator by running the level lower than you would otherwise. Possibly with the level at the fins, with a couple inches of space before the filler. I presume you'd want to...

What is normal operating temp for 3FE?

FSM says 88C / 191F. Is that the *ideal* temperature for these engines, or just what the specced for US trucks due to emissions? Did global market trucks have different thermostats? It sounds like the 2F came with a couple different thermostats depending on the year. I've heard that there's no...

90 Amp Alternator upgrade / mod thread

Is there any chance that this, if done incorrectly or not, could cause the alternator's pulley to be slightly offset and make the belt whine?

    Builds Matubrembrem’s FJ60 build

I had a first gen 4Runner with a supposedly rebuilt transmission. I lost the transmission oil out of the transfer case. I'm not sure if the breather was plugged or they had the seal backwards. But it was quite the expense. The bypass hose does seem like a good idea, even though I'm not 100%...

New (old) High ZDDP (zinc) Oil Castrol

Straight weight oil doesn't seem like a good idea. Having a cold range that's not so thick is a lot better for wear on cold startups. Diesel oil is a good option in my opinion. Rotella T6. Might have issues with catalytic converters clogging if you're burning oil, but I think it's still rare.

    Daily driving a 60?

I'm guessing you could get 17MPG highway (55 or 60MPH highway, that is), with some highway tires on a well tuned rig. Otherwise I'd be impressed if you were getting 14-15MPG with backroads winter driving. I think your best chance at 17 MPG would be building a 2FE, possibly with the H55F 5...

Will FJ40 engine mounts fit on a FJ60?

Hey! Thank you all for the feedback. I checked with a jack and my driver's side motor mount is completely sheared like I thought. Can the bolt mod be done once mounted or better to do while changing it? Does it increase vibrations notably? Mine is pretty buzzy right now. Just ordered an OEM mount.

Will FJ40 engine mounts fit on a FJ60?

I'm seeing obscene prices like $150 for an OEM FJ60 engine mount. Cruiser Corps has this set for FJ40/55 that looks awfully similar: Engine Mounts Front / Pair - FJ40, FJ45, FJ55 1958-1980 Will it do the trick? Thank you!

    Where to sell FJ60 parts?

I somehow missed that. Thank you!

    Where to sell FJ60 parts?

I have some extra parts off my FJ60 I'm thinking about selling. Smog stuff, passenger front door, panel, etc. Not enough to be a regular vendor. Should I list them on ebay or is there a spot here? Thank you.

1985 FJ60 Air Cleaner / Weber Carb Problem

No idea why you bought a FJ60 to want to swap the motor. I think an FJ80 makes a lot more sense at that point. I haven't tried the Weber before but the Aisan can be worked with. My best luck has been capping off all of the ports except for the three near the intake on the carburetor. Looking at...

Where to get a carburetor idle stop screw + spring?

My bad. That's the fast idle stop screw. I am not sure what the idle screw is. I didn't even see the idle stop screw for the longest time. It was in there.

Where to get a carburetor idle stop screw + spring?

Ok, looks like idle stop screw pitch is M5 x 0.8. Got it back together.

Where to get a carburetor idle stop screw + spring?

Already missing that one. I think I took it off at some point and I can't find it. Or rather, that's the one I used and I lost it as well but it was too short or the spring was too long.

Where to get a carburetor idle stop screw + spring?

Finally have my FJ60 back together but missing a idle stop screw so I have to hold the throttle open to keep it from dying. https://parts.toyota.com/a/Toyota_1985_Land-Cruiser-42L-MT/_82788_6717112/CARBURETOR/791420-2103.html These are the parts...

    First Landcruiser: 1985 FJ60

    > How is one supposed to remove the brake line going to the dust cover so the dust cover can be taken off? It just wants to twist and bind up. Doesn't make sense to me. It is a bit odd but I manged to get it off. There's a clip on the attachment point on the axle. I pulled that out and was able...

    First Landcruiser: 1985 FJ60

How is one supposed to remove the brake line going to the dust cover so the dust cover can be taken off? It just wants to twist and bind up. Doesn't make sense to me. The thin nuts with the lock washer were finger tight. Seems like those are supposed to be pretty tight.

    H55f 5 speed upgrade for 1987 FJ60

How are you only doing 60 in it with the 4 speed? What size tires do you have? I wonder if the speedometer is reading low.

    First Landcruiser: 1985 FJ60

Caught a cold and wanted it to go away, so didn't work for a week. I'm not able to get the pitman arm ball joint separated. I did get a tool that I can bear down on it pretty well with, but it'll deform the jaws and pop off before budging. However, I did find I can "tighten" the joint with the...

    First Landcruiser: 1985 FJ60

Heh, so looks like the fill plug wants to strip. I searched around and understand now that most sockets have a lip and don't properly engage such a short bolt. I ground down a socket and am having some more luck. Letting my bigger electric impact gun's battery charge up.
