Yup, I've felt the pain. I think the worst part for me was that I thought I solved it a few times, only to have the issue pop back up.
But you're right: once you get it fixed and it runs well, there's no better feeling that going and out firing up your truck and hearing that healthy...
Glad you figured it out. I had the same feeling tracing down a surging idle issue on mine, but sadly the new O2 sensor wasn’t the only problem.
Because I was limited on time and had a new baby, I had paid a mechanic to install it on the side and it turns out he did a bad job (never again -...
Still waiting for your refund? That really stinks.
Your stock leafs with the OME add-a-leafs look very similar to my current setup in terms of arc, which makes sense because I ended up doing basically the same thing.
Ok, this has been a very long time coming, but I have the 60 back on the road, but now with A/C, Sniper EFI and new tires in addition to the suspension refresh.
I’ll cut straight to the chase: the General Springs rear leafs didn’t solve the sag issue, which is a shame because the ride is...
I’m not an expert on differences between the HJ and FJ in terms of the wiring harness and instrument cluster but generally the speedometer is driven separately from the other gauges via a cable and spedo gear, so it’s surprising that there’s a complete outage in the cluster. If the HJ cluster is...
Did all of the gauges quit or just a subset? Its not hard to pull the instrument cluster out and check the connections at the back - if multiple gauges are having a problem I’d start with the wiring harness connections.
Also, good point on the A/C—I also re-installed factory A/C, but it doesn't seem like those parts would make that big of a difference, but who knows :)
Wow, those rear springs look incredibly flat—I'd be shocked if mine were that flat if only from seeing how much curve they had on the lift (here's a picture: https://forum.ih8mud.com/attachments/2023-01-17-09-27-56-jpg.3222022/), but we will see soon!
Right when I pulled it off the lift it did...
Well, that's not too encouraging, but we will find out soon enough. I finally rounded up all of the extra bits needed for the Holley Sniper conversion—I hope to have that done this upcoming week and then it's straight to the tire shop. Stay tuned.
Do you have a picture of your rig with the...
Thanks, very helpful. So that's just under a 32" tire, which is close to what I was thinking. I'll post a picture of my rig when it's done and let everyone know final tire size.
What size tires are you running? My transmission swap is almost done and I need to get new tires. I was thinking 30" or 31", which should work well from a gear ratio standpoint in overdrive with the 5 speed.
I'll definitely post photos of the stance as soon as it's off the lift out of the shop.
My dad owns a manual transmission shop (and let me borrow a lift for the suspension refresh!) and we decided to just go ahead and do the conversion to the 5-speed H55F while it was there but taking a little...
Ah, good to know! I think I got confused because two of them had Zerk fittings and two didn't. I could tell the ones that didn't had grease in them, so I didn't add any, but I'm used to greasing my own fittings, which is why I called it out. Thanks for sharing.
One additional piece of intel on the 555 tie rod ends that I forgot to mention: the lower ends don't come with Zerk fittings, which was a little surprising, but the size (M6) is common and they are pretty cheap.
Hey everyone, following up here with the actual suspension refresh. There were some major delays: the springs and shocks took months to come in, then I broke my wrist in a mountain biking accident and had to go through surgery and recovery. This past holiday weekend, though, I finally got around...
