    slave cylinder, master or clutch?

is it hard to shift in all gears? Did you make sure to bleed all of the air out of the clutch line when you flushed it? You might have a friend operate your clutch with you under the truck so you can watch the action of the slave--if it looks like it's binding you might grease it up and try...

    FJ 60 Dash Cap

I purchased the SOR dash cap and sent it back. It looks good for a few seconds but the more I looked at it the less satisfied I was. For one thing, I found the overlap line in all the vent holes to be very noticeable, as was the overlap with the instrument panel. Also, if you ever needed to...

    T-case leaks

Hey folks: I've got some T-case leaks that I'd like to fix. I've got a little dribble coming from the speedo cable and a pretty good dribble coming from the 4WD indicator switch. I'm sure the speedo cable has a gasket, but the indicator switch doesn't appear to have one. What's the best...

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

I would do that except that I've got a dual battery set up and it happens with both batteries. My batteries have never tested below 12 volts, nor has the voltage at the charger been less than 12 volts. Based on what I've been reading in other threads and the tests I've run, it sounds like...

Photos of another Oregon desert trip

HD: Notice any difference in excelleration or mileage with the 33 950s? This is the setup I'd like to do to mine.

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

Thanks Dogboy. Just ordered one. I'm betting, based on other recent threads, that my problem is in the ignition circuit. I forgot to mention that I can remove my key while the engine is running, which seems to be a fairly common complaint. I also forgot to mention that on at least one...

    What's killing my starter?

Not to mock your pain....but I sure am glad someone else is plagued by starter problems. Mine is similar, but with the added bonus of getting a click when I turn the key. My problem is totally intermittent, so testing is of little value at this point. I've tested battery voltage to the...

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

One problem solved Well at least one major issue is out of the way. I was set to do a whole range of circuit tests with a buddy this evening, and while I was killing time waiting for him to get off work I decided to rewire the radio per original specs in the FSM. While testing the new wiring...

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

Do your headlights dim when you crank the ignition? This is supposed to be a sign of battery drain, which could indicate battery issues or alternator issues. Finding another alternator would really suck for me, but it would sure be an easy fix.

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

A little more clarification. There are times when I turn the key, with the main battery only, and do not even get the click and nothing registers on the voltmeter. Hop out of the truck and test the battery--12.45 volts. I think this points to ignition or wiring from the battery. A...

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

I thought about the draining issue, but there are many times when I test the main battery, get a 12.4ish reading, and try to start it right away--no dice. Sometimes it appears that the battery is losing charge, but other times not. In reality I've probably got several things happening at...

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

I'm hoggin' my own thread. Same thing this morning. Get in truck, turn key, this time on main battery voltmeter is below 12 volts, click then nothing. Turn on second battery and it starts first time. Will check the starter solenoid today. Anybody want a great looking, clean...

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

Thanks, Dogboy. I'll check that out today when I get a chance--although I don't have a "remote starter". Is this the same as a remote power source hooked directly to the starter?

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

2mbb: Thanks. Now let me make sure I understand you--I should check to make sure that the battery cable wire itself has good contact with the lug itself (connector). I haven't yet but will do tomorrow. I just checked the lead to the block--looks good. Thanks for the jumper tip. I...

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

Yeah. I think that's good news, but I still hate it. I am leaning away from the starter because I've checked it and because it seems to work about 85% of the time when I kick in the second battery. If it were the starter I would assume that it wouldn't work for either battery. I think...

    Electrical Woes--SSDD

Thanks for the replies guys. I have had the starter tested, and have taken it apart myself to check the contacts. Seems to be in working order. But like I said, sometimes it works just fine--could be that when I had it tested it was a good day.:)

Thought about that. Makes sense, especially since the truck has 270,000 miles on it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey Folks: This has been cross-posted in the Diesel section, although I'm not sure how much the diesel has to do with it. I've been nursing an electrical/starting issue for quite a while now--you may have...

    Starting electrical

Thanks folks. Since I took the starter out to check the contacts and reinstalled I have not been able to duplicate the problem. I HOPE that means there was a loose or bad connection somewhere, but I have a funny feeling about it. Thanks for posting up.
