I was talking about the OM612 CRD possibly making 30+. Same engine they use in the Sprinter Van. Some specs have shown 30+ highway and the van weighs more. Using that motor is a much more complex and expensive swap.
It was 15 years ago in an FJ40. I just didn't like the results most likely a gearing issue maybe not the right V8. At the time I did not have the info and support like we have on this site.
Anyway you look at it a diesel engine is more efficient. I would guess the mileage with a 617 could be 20+??? It still will not win any races but could be very effective with the right gearing. I have read through many threads on cruiser owners trying to make more power with a 2F but no...

I did a little more research after posting this thread. Reading through some of the threads now. I just saw the 4x4 lab FJ40/Merc video it got me interested. My thoughts are simplicity and mileage. The power numbers are comparable to the Toyota's. A little more boost and fuel pressure...
Just wondering has anyone done a Mercedes Diesel engine swap??? Anybody have any info?? I see 4x4 Labs is making an adapter kit for the Mercedes OM617.
