    New to Cruisers

Were the trans/transer case full? Worth a check and even a fluid change as a cheap troubleshooting step. My buddie's 82 fj60 howled too, but otherwise gave him no problems. He did put another tranny in it from a part-out, which solved the noise issue. Looks like a little work but a solid...

In case anyone needs to know, Spectre has some in stock for $50. Part # 012-12A-U.

Project Flash Flood Victim - Submarge

I was lucky I guess. My water intrusion came through the dipstick I believe, though the exhaust full of water made that first ignition a memorable sight! Nothing tops snails on the intake though!!

Project Flash Flood Victim - Submarge

Brings back memories of my flood rescue. It was flooded up to the dash after a 2003 hurricane in La. I bought it from a salvage yard and ripped the interior out, pressure washed the carpet after pulling the backing off, then let teh seats sit out in the sun for about 5 days before shop-vacc'ing...

Adapting FJ62 Air Cleaner Assy to my 60

No wonder I couldn't find it, thanks Spike! Not looking for any kind of peformance gain..just cleaning up some space around the engine. My stock cleaner is pretty beat up, especially after my battery blew up a few years back. I got such a good deal from a local pull-a-part, that I figured it...

Adapting FJ62 Air Cleaner Assy to my 60

I have a complete FJ62 air cleaner assembly and would like to put it on my 60. Other than ordering a carb adapter from Oz, anyone have alternatives? I'll find something to put in place of the MAF, but finding something for the carb is proving difficult. Thoughts? Thanks! <BF>

    2pc, tri''Y'' headers/2f

That, my friends, is what Mardi Gras looks like under the hood! Jim, thanks for the 2f/3f info; I had no idea! Those manifolds look like a great option; are they the same as those on the 3FE?

Wondering if My 60 Has a New Engine

Here are pics of my 60... Between a bad fuel pump, bad alternator, bad battery, shot suspension, and inconsistent idling, I didn't get to drive her too much the last few years. Post-maintenance and two weeks of everyday driving, she runs very good (13mpg) after two tanks of fresh gas. She...

Wondering if My 60 Has a New Engine

Back in late 2002, I bought my 60 out of a South-Lousiana salvage yard for $800 after it was fresh-watwer flooded to just beneath the dash when Hurricane Isadore hit SE Louisiana. Besides having water in mechanicals and mud everywhere else, it was complete and mostly rust free. After trailering...

Aftermarket Muffler to Fit Stock Exhaust

Thanks for your input. I guess after measuring my stock muffler and then searching Jegs & Summit, I just don't know which inlet/outlet would match up with the factory tubing the best. It seems that many of the posts on mufflers deal with cat back replacement, but my OEM stuff is in pretty...

Aftermarket Muffler to Fit Stock Exhaust

After reading 10+ pages, I still haven't found what I'm looking for. I'd like to replace my OEM muffler with Flow' or equivalent, but I want to keep the OEM pipes in place. What inlet/outlet (center/offset?) will best match up without interfering with the frame and/or body?

Oil Return Tube or Tcase Rebuild? That is the question...

I think I have this problem, but how do I tell which way the oil is flowing? I drove my cruiser from Louisiana to MS yesterday, and when I stopped at the rest area I noticed some oil dripping from the trans area. With the skid plate installed and the 60mph airflow, I couldn't pinpoint anything...

    Going to Maui!

I just returned from two weeks on Oahu. Driving around the east coast I saw a 60 for sale on the side of the road. On the nortshore, there were two 60s rusting next to the road. I did see a couple nice cruisers on the island, but most were rusting from the top down. Living on the MS Gulf...

    rhd+usps

IIRC, the gov'ment will accept RHD vehicles as long as the particular model is on the list. The land cruiser is on the approved importation list up until the 80's I believe. It's been awhile since I've visited the NHTSA site, so I may not be 100% correct. here is a code for each vehicle that...

Would you buy a Cruiser from this Dealer?

eBay Motors: Toyota : Land Cruiser (item 260203719962 end time Jan-25-08 18:40:16 PST) This one's in Tampa, but you should just bring one back from your "current location". Once you get the smell out, it'd be a great Cruiser!

Would you buy a Cruiser from this Dealer?

I can see the commercial now: "Whipped by high gas prices? Tied up with payments that are too high? Getting beat by maintenance costs on that old vehicle? Then come on down to S&M Motors where we're thrashing prices!! Call today and ask for Madame Dominique to receive special one on one...

Would you buy a Cruiser from this Dealer?

Found this eBay auction of an 80 series, but this pic is really about the dealership across the street. If you usually feel that you are getting screwed when buying a car, imagine what kind of deal you'll get at..........

clutch slave blew up on me?

I just replaced my slave cyl, but I had no one to assist with bleeding the system. I went to Auto Zone and bought one of those brake bleeding kits that uses a hand pump to draw the fluid through the system. Of course, frequent checking means alot of up and down time, and I probably bled my...

Bad Clutch Master and/or Slave w/o leaks?

No offense taken. I'm vaguely familiar with the process, but I admit it's been years since I last helped someone do this. As for removing the slave bleed screw, I was just trying to get fluid through the cylinder (I was draining the nasty old fluid anyway). I got fluid through the line but...
