I ask, because when im on pavement going up hills my vsc skid light beeps and lights up and it will lock up the tires for about 1/2 second. i think its the yaw sensor. this is extremely dangerous, its happened a few times. i thought it was one of the abs sensors/tone wheels, but its not. now im...
As was stated above, the starter is underneath the intake manifold on the rear of the engine. pretty hard to get to. My bad on that advice. Just clean the contacts w/in the fuse block first. From my knowledge of working on vehicles most of my life, its always something completely stupid and easy...
Ok, try this, out of curiosity. you have everything back together, you go to turn it over and it doesnt do anything. Tap/hit the starter with a hammer. If it turns over, its prolly the starter. I would bet 100 bucks, its just dirty contacts w/in the fuseblock.
Tbh, the problem only started when I pressure washed the engine bay. I then removed the relay and kinda brushed the relay contacts and mildly scrubbed the fuse block contacts with a small sliver of folded sand paper. No problems since. I wanna say it's been about 4 or 5 months?
As far as from what ive read so far, dont forget to pack an extra spark plug coil pack too! My problems only started happening after i had the engine detailed, so like you said most likely moderate corrosion.
Here is my educated guess, I seem to notice these problems happen when its hot outside. Ive also noticed that if you turn the key to the on position, let it sit while everything powers up, it seems to work. If it doesnt, i tap the relays softly and it always works. My guess is our heat coupled...
This is correct, a short circuit using a "jumper" is not a permanent solution. There is a reason circuit protection exists. As we all know, and i am currently experiencing, this is a common problem, but my advice would be to only use a jumper for emergencies. Maybe if in doubt use a tad bigger...
IM just reading through these threads and its funny you say that, because whenever i drive my 100 to a gas station or on a quick task, I always keep it running, just in case. I usually drive my highlander as my DD, but not knowing if the 100 will start is somewhat anxiety inducing!
i didnt know this was such a serious problem until blatant notified me in a different thread. Ive also heard from somewhere else, I think it was murf or one of his techs, that sometimes the bottom of the fuse/relay block can get burned out or corroded as such, which would make sense with the...
