Anybody ever tried fitting the second row captain's seats from a Sequoia into a 100? I know the way they work is similar...just thought the mounting points might be too??? Nah, that'd be too easy, right? :hhmm:
Noah - what dealership quoted this? I've had pretty good luck with World Toyota, although admittedly limited at this point. If I went back to my service writer with this information (contained in this thread), he'd probably offer me the other option with the knowledge that I had at least a...
This is a lot cheaper than the stealer:

I bought one a couple of years ago and convinced my Lexus service advisor to program it for me with the...
You might check with Rocket Keys - that's where I bought the "complete" key. aedgington you sure about the interchangeablitiy of the guts between LC and LX keys?
I got a key with the guts (three button - I question whether a two button "computer" would even work with the Land Cruiser) for $80 off eBay. No Toyota emblem, but I don't really care.
A lot of folks like the Revo's (Bridgestone) too. I have the Nitto Terra Grapplers in the 285 size and have been very happy with them - but I have 0 snow experience with them.
The Lexus part numbers (don't know if they're the same as Toyota) are:
86510-60240 (high)
86520-60200 (low)
Apparently you need one of each. This is how the Lexus dealer ordered them for me (got a good deal because my brother works for one).
I'm not sure that's a safe assumption. If the key corrodes to the point that the functions don't work, it might be reasonable to assume the transponder wouldn't either. Transponder no worky, LX no starty - it will just crank and crank when you turn the key.
And I absolutely have to disagree...
Does it work now? If it does and its the only master you have, I wouldn't take a chance - get a new one ASAP. I might have a hook-up for the key (from Lexus), but then your stealership would be less likely to help you program it... I know you can buy LC keys on Ebay - not sure about LX.
Since you are looking at floormats: There are two "tan" colors in the 100 series - it's confusing, because I think they might both be called oak. But I think the switch came in '01, not '03.
TRY to get someone out of their shop who has done LC/LX's before - at the very least someone seasoned. They are not easy. You should insist on talking to the shop foreman and explain to him that you know people who have had to have them redone 2 and 3 times (I would be one of those). It's...
Most dealers won't mess with replacing the contacts - it's just too much labor to take the whole damn thing apart again if anything goes wrong. So they replace the whole starter.
Glad you got it taken care of.
