Whew....well, there are lots of threads on this in the forums, but in a nutshell it goes like this. Anything 25 years old can come in pretty easily. Anything newer really has to come through an RI. There are other ways, but they get shady. If you have serious cash, then just do the RI and be...
Easier? That's the way you are supposed to do it! ;) You don't need to make an adapter at all, just go buy a diesel compression tester kit. It will have one in there that fits. I'm not sure what psi your compression gauge is good for, but diesels are almost always over 400psi and some are...
Where is "the area" for you? I hear that "diesels only" in Denver is decent, though I haven't been over there myself. If you haven't done a compression on that motor yet, I do have an adapter that I machined up to fit the injector holes. I'm in Denver though...not sure where you are exactly.
Might also be a turbo seal. I have a theory on that. On cold starts, my oil pressure is MUCH higher than at normal operating temp. It's possible that the higher pressure would push oil past the turbo seal and into your intake. At op temps, it would diminish some and be less visible. Just a...
If it ran fine, and it's been reasonably sheltered from the elements (ie, no open engine parts) then why don't you just get some fresh fuel to it and a good battery and jump it? I used to run my diesels right out of gas can when I was bench testing them. Make short "temp" fuel lines, bleed it...
Just had my alt rebuilt two days ago. They couldn't find the diode assembly for it, so he just took the old one apart and soldered new ones in. No big deal and WAY cheaper than a new one. X2 on just finding a good shop that's old school.
Correct. You would also NOT see glow plugs across the top of the head on at 13 engine. Any 3B engine would have both an injector and a glow plug visible on the top.

You should see plenty in this thread, though you may want to skip towards the end.
Every 13BT I ever had used two brackets already attached to the engine. Yours should have those brackets....if memory serves me correctly, the front one is on the left and the back one is on the right.
No need to spin the turbo output, just put 90 degree elbows on. BTW, a volvo intercooler works very well. Mine is the perfect width of a 40 radiator and the in/out are at the very top.
You may very well need a different input shaft, but the easier thing to do would be to purchase the...
Define diesel housing? Do you mean the cast piece that bolts to the back of the turbo output and combines the exhaust and blow off gases into one before going into the down pipe?
I wound up swapping mine out for a "header" piece that fits on there. It's a smooth curve pipe that comes off the...
I don't recall the 12HT needing the steering box moved, but I will tell you from experience to do it anyway. I had to move mine with the 13BT, and it's been a GREAT mod. I have had manual steering, mini truck steering, and now FJ60 steering. LOVE the 60 conversion.
My guess is that the snowplow is working as a stone shield for the drive down. You can absolutely ruin a nice car/truck towing behind something that throws stones or sand.
BTW, your license plate light is exactly the one I use as an interior light in my 78. Believe it or not, you can make a thin mounting plate that slips inside the washer access hole at the top of the windshield frame and then screw this light to the mounting plate without drilling any holes in...
Agreed that the tuffy console is a POS in a 40. I have been redesigning one in solidworks for months now.....got to finish that. The tuffy leaves a LOT of room underneath it that's wasted, plus the shifter interference....not just from the knob, but it also crushes any "normal" sized drink...
