AltFuel Input on Appleseed type reactor wanted-

Hello Eric, 6 gallons seems like a really small heater and will limit your batch size dramatically. If you are planning to use this for a vehicle I would go with a bigger heater. You don't have to have a bottom drain, but this issue is that you will have to let the mixture settle for 8-24...

I'd like to hear about the Isuzu swap too.

    My Importation Success Story

Actually, unless things have changed in the last two years, USA has a 21 year rule.

    94 FZJ80 6.2 conversion begins!

FL Cruiser-- The rear mounted turbo has quite a lot of appeal but I couldn't find any information about where they were located on the engine. I am curious if there would be firewall clearance issues in this location. If not, that is the option I will take.

Excellent, Smithers. I'm really interested to get some feedback from you regarding the amount of space you'll have between the exhaust manifold and the passenger side shock tower (looking for turbo clearance). I'm thinking of having a machine shop make a manifold shim or custom manifold so...

    94 FZJ80 6.2 conversion begins!

Glad to see you're moving forward. I will be following a similar route and will have lots of questions for you when I get started. I'm not sure how easy it will be to add a turbo afterward as the passenger side shock tower will have to be modified (unless you go with a center mount turbo...

Hey Bio-cruisers, what % are you running

Now you're talking Tom. That Honda will be sweet. All I have to do is convince the wife to sell the Prius and I'm in. And quit calling it ugly....I'm sensitive:cool: For those of you who are interested there are several excellent articles about using biodiesel in the April issue...

Hey Bio-cruisers, what % are you running

Captain 23: I followed your link and read the report again. As stated above, the results of the analysis are heavily biased by the assumptions the reviewers made. CNW's analysis rests primarily on life expectancy of the vehicle, defined as "the approximate mileage at the time it is removed...

Hey Bio-cruisers, what % are you running

The figures in the chart are compared to No. 2 diesel. The negative integers indicate % fewer emissions for each category compared to regular diesel (e.g. -67 equals 67% reduction in total hydrocarbon emissions).

Hey Bio-cruisers, what % are you running

Captain23: The emissions data for hybrids are taken from real-world driving conditions, just like for every other vehicle. Take a look at the info presented above for the Civic.

Follow this link to a head to head comparison of emissions and other performance data for a Honda Civic in hybrid, natural gas, diesel, and traditional versions. http://www.greencarcongress.com/2004/12/comparing_civic.html

Hey Bio-cruisers, what % are you running

Captain23: The emissions data is readily available via the EPA website, biodiesel.org, and any number of other places. In general, biodiesel emissions values are compared to petroleum diesel, not gasoline. Here are the data: Emission Type B100...

Hey Bio-cruisers, what % are you running

Tom: Fair question. I bought the Prius in 2002 while looking for the greenest car I could get at the time. At that point I didn't know anything about biodiesel (or diesel in general for that matter) so didn't consider diesel options. According to all the literature I've read the...

Hey Bio-cruisers, what % are you running

Interesting question. I'm not sure how to answer it at this point as the Prius (compared to the Land Cruiser) is fairly new and the two vehicles don't cost anywhere near the same new (Prius was 20K new, FZJ80 35-40K). The Prius has been around since 1997 and has experienced very few...

Hey Bio-cruisers, what % are you running

Hmmm.... reading your earlier post doesn't seem to indicate this point. I'm not sure where you get your numbers, but I think a refresher is in order. FYI the battery systems on the Prius are warranted for 8 years/100,000 miles, and Toyota has had to replace VERY few of these batteries...

    isuzu 4BD1T swap?!

Arcteryx: Are you being sarcastic? If not, you can check out www.marks4wd.com, Brunswick diesels, or Linquip diesels. Landcruisers Northwest is also doing a 6.5 swap right now in Portland. It's a good motor with some minor modification (heat sink, mechanical fuel pump, etc), is readily...

Hey Bio-cruisers, what % are you running

Can't let that one slip by....again. The Prius Hybrid vs. Hummer comparison is complete bull****. Do a little research on the numbers reported (like 300,000 miles for an H2--haha) and you will see what I mean. Funny how that "article" is only published in some totally anecdotal website...

    isuzu 4BD1T swap?!

Tom: Cash is a really strong reason. I would go with the 4BT but just can't swallow the 4 inches of lift required. I even checked on the newest version of the 4BT (QSB 3.9) but it's even BIGGER! Based on the success the aussies have had with the Chevy 6.5, I'm still leaning in that...
