    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

Update time! Ute is going great. I've driven about 500kms on the turbo now with the fuel screw in the stock position (due to no boost or egt gauge fitted yet). Performance felt improved, but wasn't outstanding. At the first fill up it used around 12.5l/100km. This week we sorted the boost...

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

It lives....finally!!! Still no wiring fitted and lots of other bits to still sort before its on the road properly, but I got it out for its first drive with the turbo, 60 series power steering and disc brakes. All went great. Couple of dodgy videos below. https://youtu.be/O4NH77p8VKg...

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

Weren't planning on it, but if it is advised to, then we can come up with something? The dump pipe and exhaust will be solid mounted to the motor/gearbox/transfer with a flex joint at the end, so some extra support will be provided there.

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

So the power steering and disc brake conversion ended up as a full frame off resto hence the long delay in getting back to the turbo installation. Anyway, made some progress this week. Turbo mounted to flipped stock manifold and 3" stainless dump pipe build and exhaust to the back of the...

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

I've been busy on the HJ45 the last few weeks doing a 60 series power steering and disc brake conversion. I have just about finished this, so the turbo is next. I have everything needed to do the install now, so will post some build pics over the next week or two. For now, here is some pics...

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

Thanks Dougal. The HJ will get a new radiator at the same time of the install. Current one is had a big hit from the fan, and outlet hose is also in the way of the power steer pump which will be getting done the same times as the turbo. Any recommendations on the wastegate? Seen these...

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

Thanks again Gerg and Dougal for all your info so far. As mentioned in the first post, I'm not after big power, just a nice, safe, reliable increase as the HJ is my daily driver. I was originally thinking around 7-10 psi if possible. From this thread it seems redline for a 2H is around...

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

I don't fully understand the numbers you guys are talking about, but will do some googling to see what I can try and learn. If it helps, here is a better copy of the graph for the Holset Turbos

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

Turbo doesn't have any waste gate at all. I'll check the housings for more numbers this afternoon. At least its looking somewhat promising, from the replies so far. Thanks. Budget wise, mate I got this off is happy for me to clean it up and sell it if its not suitable, then use those $...

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

Turbo has been in storage for around 5 years after being removed from the Genset on which it had run for over 30,000 hrs. Last few years have been the wetest we have had too. My mate reckons it will clean up fine. There is no end float in the shaft, but there is a tiny amount of side to side...

    Holset HX25 on 2H Diesel

A mate recently gave me a turbo which we plan to fit to the 2H in my HJ45 using an adapter to the stock exhaust manifold. The Turbo is a Holset HX25 and was originally fitted to a Cummins 3.8 litre diesel generator. I know its on the smaller side for a 2H, but could anyone advise wether it...
