I screwed up. Tried cranking today only to discover I had failed to reattatch a fuel line. The result was gas going all over my garage floor. Can someone please tell me where the line coming off the bottom of the thing in the center of the photo attatches too? Its at the end of the injector...
I've been gone awhile but now I'm back. Hi ho silver n all that.
Actually I am just looking for some info. I am in the endstretch of reassembling my engine, post headgasket. I can't remember where this little grey plug goes. Can anyone help?
Muchas Gracias in advance.
Well, finally getting back to this project after some months. Life being busy and all.........
I am performing the valve adjusment and trying to be sure I have TDC on cyl 1 compression stroke set properly. I marked the timing chain sprocket at TDC before I took it apart but am now doubting...
I busted this removing the manifold:
1989 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2.4L L4 : Electrical-Switch & Relay : Fuel Injection Thermal / Time Switch
Rock auto want $127. for a new one. Any on have on sitting on a used manifold they want to sell:
heres a helpful PDF on head gaskets. someone should post it at FAQ stickies.

Never mind. I figured it out from the shop manual. Put a socket on the crankshaft while pulling up on the timing sprocket and chain, rock back and forth a few times and it goes into place.
Ok. I'm stumped. How do you re-attach the timing chain sprocket to the camshaft? when the head is in place, its as if the chain is too short. What am I missing here?
Thanks for the reply. Since the valves will have to be adjusted cold the first time, should I just adjust them to spec then redo them after the engine has warmed up?
Just now getting back to this, believe it or not. I have the new head sitting on the block with the gaskets in place. I am wondering about the position of the camshaft. Does it matter? I am putting it where it was marked on the old one, but the fresh lobes prevent it from dropping snuggly into...
anyone had experience with this company? Looks like a really good deal and although the gaskets aren't Toyota, I have never had problems with fel-pro...
I am considering just ordering a complete new head, with all the gaskets and bolts included. This would save me some runaround time and if the head is damaged I would be spending that money any way.
Absolutely on the tap and cleanup.
Head is off. The bolt on the left is the one which was badly stuck. It took five or 6 hits of over 30 seconds with am impact wrench to get it free. Note how it is indented on one side. Burned away with corrosion from hot exhaust gases.
that answers my question. Kinda what I was wondering. I am going to try more leverage, then maybe see if I can rustle up an impact wrench and compressor somewhere.
This afternoon I turned all the head bolts except #8 which is brutally stuck. Not wanting to force it, I am considering loosening all the rest in hopes of easing the pressure on #8. I have only turned the other a notch or so but I know they will keep turning with ease.
Suggestions?
