    4x4 labs hysteer

Thanks...any chance of a pic Woody, Any reason to pick WTexas 1.5"x8" Ram over the same from Rock Logic? Or are both good products? Also, if you have a pic of your set up...specifically the ram to tie rod connection, that would help my unimaginative brain get a better feel for how...

Aisin Hubs and 4340 inner axles...

"They'll swap right on." Really?.... any Aisin hubs and the Poly Performance 4340 axles with my 78 Newfields will all swap right in, no mods or new parts needed. Forgive my astonishment, but rarely have I found a swap that's that easy. What year(s)/vehicles could I find the Aisin hubs on...

Aisin Hubs and 4340 inner axles...

Just read the article in the Sept/Oct Toyota Trails on Woody's 40HD axle. I'd love to get rid of my Warn Hubs on my 78 FJ 40 and switch to Aisin. I'm running CV Unlimited "Newfield" outers and wonder what I'd need to do to swap to Aisin Hubs? Where might I find them (vehicles? years?) and do...

    4x4 labs hysteer

Any Hydro assist pics with 4x4 labs Hy-steer? I've been very happy with my 4x4 Labs set up too...now its time to go hydro so I can turn my 37's without grunting. I'd love advise on where to mount the ram, and pics would be even better. Anybody running hydro and Lukes Hy-steer? Thanks...

    Junked my stock Steering...

COOL...good enough for Woody is good enough for me ;) Thanks for the info....I ordered the kit tonight and can't wait to get her installed. Is your upcoming Hydro-assist a West Texas purchase? Just wondering as I'm considering that route myself. Scott 78 FJ-40 "Rudy"

    Junked my stock Steering...

I snapped a tie rod on my 78 FJ40 this weekend heading up Moab Rim and am looking to beef up when I fix er. The rig is SOA with 37's, Saginaw PS, 98 inch wheelbase, stock axles with the smaller knuckle pattern, and 1.5 inch wheelspacers. I like the looks of the 4x4 labs high steer arms and the...

    Profield opinions

Sounds like Smurf or Long is the way to go. Can't speak to those as I've not run em yet, and can't continue the consistent string of Profield bashing (haven't run them either), but have broken a CV Unlimited Newfield, so probably not the best bet. They did replace it for free which is cool...

    ORION or MARLIN

Mace...if your referring to more potential for :bust2: :bust: by going with lower gears e.g. Toybox, then yes, I'm aware of the risks. But if your suggesting that adding a Marlin T/Case saver is going to actually increase my chances of breakage, then I need some further help understanding that...

    ORION or MARLIN

Thanks Woody...glad to hear it is an effective piece (in theory anyway). Problem is, this ToyBox swap is getting more and more expensive as the 'necessary' parts list grows :P Midas well suck it up and do it right the first time and save myself a bunch of :bust: :bust2:  Scott 78...

    FJ40 hydro assist

Saaweet link Woody....so you just send Matt at WTOR your existing Saginaw box and he rebuilds, taps for Hydro, and sends you back everything you need to set up the Assist? I assume you do nothing to your existing pump if your going to do the hydro-assist...eg, only modify the pump if your...

    ORION or MARLIN

Heah, Marlin calls it a T-Case Saver and it bolts onto the top and back of the case at a 90 degree angle...heck, I don't know how for sure, but I'll try to post the pic from Marlins site. If most damage is to the bottom of the case anyway, this piece won't help. It looks like its mostly to...

    Profield opinions

So what is the best option? Profield, Newfield, Marfield, Longfield, Smurfield? Anybody got an opinion on which if any of these are the best bet...and I don't really wanna here "swap in a 60" ;) :flipoff2: A bit a a hy-jack, but thought others might be curious too? Scott 78 FJ40 "Rudy"

    FJ40 hydro assist

Forgive me for a bit of a back track question, but I followed the thread and I'm curious about this 'west Texas' deal to get more out of your saginaw box. Is there a way with washers (Woody you mentioned something along this line) to boost the capacity of a Saginaw box/pump? I'm riding on 37's...

    ORION or MARLIN

Yeah Woody, Moab has a way of clarifying ones Cruiser needs ;) After wheeling three days of 4 and 4+ trails (I stayed away from Prichett :P, my stock 73 t/case held up well...but the grinding of the sm420 drove me nuts. Also, my current 66/1 just wasn't as low as I'd like for some ledges and...

    ORION or MARLIN

The input has been awesome...thanks to you all for throwing your 2cents in. :D I still haven't decided as the wanna be mechanic is itching for a project which the Marlin Toybox would be (cutting cross member, drive shaft alterations, redo shift linkage...) The problem is the office job guy...

    ORION or MARLIN

Thanks for the input....a couple questions. How do I know if my t-case is a 'split' case (I assume split is stonger?) Mine is from a 73 FJ-40 so it's the 3-speed, 2.313 variety. Will the 150/1 put to much stress on that case? I am still running the stock I-6 with 37's. Thanks...

    ORION or MARLIN

I posted back in March on folks opinions on a ToyBox install in a Cruiser with a 420 and 3-speed...tons of great feedback and most seemed to rave about Marlin. Question now is Advance Adapter says they are shipping Orions by mid-may (FINALLY) with a 'sale' price of $1370 only good till April 30...

Marlin 'Toy Box' Install in a 40

Thanks Fellas, Encouraging to hear that linkage and install shouldn't be to big a headache...and that some die hard wheelers (Spaceghost) have been happy with that route. Appreciate the feedback, Scott 78 FJ-40 "Rudy"
