Builds Aussie MWB 40 series Build - Stretched, Linked/Coiloverd, Caged etc.

I still have it, but struggle for motivation to work on it. I've recently aquired a 1984 BJ42 LX which has been receiving all my attention lately. Progress over the last year or so is the tube guards sheeted, 2UZ and A750F mounted, new lower links done front and rear and a start on the front...

@69LC yeah don't think I have posted them actually. Wheelbase is 104" and body/chassis is extended approx 12" (300mm)

After removing the coilover towers there was still parts of the linked suspension conversion that I thought could be done neater / better. By the time I was finished I was down to two bare chassis rails all ready for a fresh start.

Couple of pics of the two projects together. Starting to test fit the 2UZ V8 and A750F Auto Then since I have the CNC Plasma I decieded to take the body off to its easier to come up with some nicer mounts and to also redo the coilover towers out of plate instead of tube. Am also fitting...

Thought it's about time I posted a update on The Middy. I ended up buying the Torchmate Table from above off my mate and put a fair chunk of $ into getting it upgraded with CandCNC controls and Hypertherm plasma cutter etc. It has ended up a neat little setup to have in my shed. First job was...

Picked up the BJ42 Middy from Brooksys yesterday. So stoked with all his tube work. Loaded up behind my FJ Cruiser. Back home and windscreen panel and doors fitted.

Dimple-die stainless steel infill plates will be added to the sliders. Also picked up a new toy for my shed. 4 x 2 Torchmate CNC plasma cutter. Brooksys has had it in his shed for ages but we have never managed to get it running right. Now its at home I can spend more time getting it running...

Pizza break... Front section of guards done. These need to be bend separately as its a possible combination of bends to achieve on most benders.

With the rears done, it was onto the front. First was to cut the apron 1 tube width higher. Inner tubes bend in tacked in place. A string line of the rear flares was used to set the width, then levelled RHS was used to set the height. Made sure chassis and body were level first also...

I drew up some laser cut mounting flanges for the rear flares way back with the custom rear quarter panels were made. Here is Brooksys half way through sorting the tube to suit. With one side done, the other is a simple copy of the bend start points and angles. In place.

So I got to spend a few days down at Brooksys from C44F over the xmas break and we got two solid days of working on the Middy. Stoked with what we got achieved. 1 more days work and I can bring it home where I'll sort mounting the 2UZ and Auto. First was to pick up the new Fox 2.0 Coilovers...

To get the gearing suitable for the 37s I purchased some transfer case reduction gears from Marks 4wd which drops the low range by 25%. Also purchased there part time kit at the same time. Reduction Gears -LandCruiser 80 & 100 Series Low Range Gears Part Time Kit -Toyota Transfer Case Spool

A few months back I got word that a mate of a mate was about to trade in his 2005 LX470. It had the 2UZ-FE 4.7l V8 and 5 speed A750F auto. I ended up buying it off him for the trade in price. This LX470 was originally meant to be the doner for my FJ45V build, but last week I picked up a rusty...

Front radius arms are custom. They are based on 80 series arms, but a bit longer. The rear is 80 series chassis mounts and the rest is custom. It was originally built with 2.5 coilovers but I am dropping back to 2.0's to gain a little more clearance. Thanks! We were stoked how it turned out...

To fund painting the HJ45 I sold the fox 2.5 coilovers, 35" krawlers and trailready beadlocks off the BJ42. So its been sitting on the bumpstops and on a mates set of 38" swampers for the last few years. So first purchase after selling the HJ45 was some new tyres and wheels from Ryano at...

I'm finally getting back into this build again. I am trying to have it done for a Classic Landcruiser Club CLAWW run at the end of April 2017. The reason for the stall of this build was I bought a HJ45 ute as a daily driver. A p/steer and disc brake conversion on it got a little carried away...

Trail and Street Coil over 40,

Thanks  Its running a 80 series landcruiser steering box. Not plans for hydro assist at the moment, but possibly down the track if I step up to 37s. I've left the frame stock up front for now, but I will shorten it if possible once I do the front bumper with winch mount.

Trail and Street Coil over 40,

Your plans sound pretty much like how I'm currently building my BJ42. To keep road manners on mine it runs a radius arm front (150mm longer arms then a 80 series) and triangulated 4 link rear. 2.5" Fox coilovers are used all round (14" travel front, 12" rear) and will run a Currie Antirock...
