Toyota 200 Series Land Cruiser Rolling Chassis-Body Removed

So this guy took a 200 that was running and had a body in perfect condition and decided to remove the body and sell the chassis separately? That's odd.

Ride quality when loaded, suspension vibration

You could check and see if you are actually hitting the bumpstops. Put a dab of grease on the bumpstop, go drive, then check and see if you have it on the axle housing when you get back.

    Rooftent for 200 without ladder?

Most tents have an integrated ladder so the door wouldn't be in the right spot. IMO a ladder would be much easier than climbing thru the car.

    Removing the Roof Rails

Wow, thanks for the offer! But I think I've got it figured out. In the second pic at the top of the thread, there is a plate that looks identical to the one you show. Since these plates are on the usa trucks already, we should be able to order additional from a dealer. Thanks again!

    Removing the Roof Rails

I know this is an old thread but... I'm wondering if you can buy correct plastic plates from toyota to cover the exposed mounting points once the rails are removed? In the pictures above, I can see some plastic plates just behind the front feet of the roof rails. Could you just order more...

Diesel engine for 200 series in USA

I tend to agree that a fair number if cruisers would be sold with a diesel if they offered it. But from Toyota's perspective, I think the question is not necessarily what percentage of already committed land cruiser buyers will choose diesel...I think its how many more people can they get to...

Diesel engine for 200 series in USA

Dougal- I did read the previous pages. Clearly, the points I mentioned are still up for debate. I don't think some threads on ih8mud indicate there is enough demand for toyota to justify introducing a diesel. I seriously doubt it would bring many more buyers to the land cruiser. The...

Diesel engine for 200 series in USA

Ask someone who doesn't know anything about cars what they think about diesel. There opinion will often be based on heavy duty diesel vehicles they see on the road or on diesels offered for sale decades ago. Either way, their perception are often not good. Not saying they're accurate, but it...

Diesel engine for 200 series in USA

Thought I'd put in my 2 cents as to why toyota has not and probably will not offer a diesel and maybe clear up some confusion. US emission standards are some of the most strict in the world. Every on-road diesel vehicle offered for sale here has some very expensive stuff on it to control...
